Because we all like seeing pics of new bows I thought I'd give Dave Dwyer a little praise on a fine Dauntless I received yesterday.
The bow is a gift from my wife and kids for my 40th b-day. It's macassar ebony riser with a simple arch, bamboo cores, macassar veneers back and belly with macassar and bamboo overlays. Beavertail grip and pulls 51#@28".
I shot it some last night and like it just fine. I wrote a big 'ole comparison between it and my toelke whip and then erased it simply because they're both great bows made by really good bowyers and there's nothing more to be said!
Enjoy.

That thing is beautiful, and a Dauntless is on my "to do" list. Maybe my wife and kids will buy one for me 40th......
Beautiful bow! Very nice gift.
Very nice!
Nice bows from great people.
That bow is beautiful!! Congrats. I have heard nothing but great things about Dwyers
Very nice bow. I love mine. They sling an arrow with authority.
That's really nice.
Beautiful Bow!
Very nice
Very nice, indeed. Macassar ebony is beautiful wood and the dense wood makes a solid shooting bow.
Sexy bow man - good on ya! Dave is a great guy and he sure knows how to build a super bow ... He even details the limb tips incredibly. Sweet bow buddy.
Bob.
Nice one...I wanna try one of the Dwyer's one of these days!
Yes sir, that's a fine looking bow.
I like the lines and colors. Looks great
That is a great looking bow all over. Really, really nice. rat'
Great looking bow
Gorgeous bow! You have a very considerate and loving wife & beautiful family, lucky you! How many guys on Trad Gang would love a new bow from their wife & family? Congratulations on making it to 40...you easily have 40 more +
Hope to see you soon at Rib Mountain!
Kris
Awesome! I love Dwyers, frequently kick myself for trading away the one I had.
Kris, to heck with the bow, look at the buck in your avatar! Holy smokes you didn't tell me about that one!
Thanks for the comments guys, it's always nice getting a bow with built in mojo!
I recently took a Dwyer Dauntless on a trade from a fellow member here. I've always preferred, and shot recurves better, but my name is also Dave Dwyer, so I figured this was a coincidence I shouldn't pass up.
After I stopped trying to shoot it with the high wrist I was used to, and actually planted my palm down, this bow became incredibly accurate. I've only had it for a month or so, but I think I shoot it better than any bow I've had so far. The bow is a solid riser, all red cedar, without a lot of the upgrades. But the craftsmanship is second to none, and it is smooth. I love shootin her.
Good luck with yours. I'm sure you'll enjoy getting to know her.
David
That's a looker! I would have loved to read the comparison with the whip but understand perfectly what your saying.
Mike...it's not as big as it might look ~ 135". Look at how small I am in the pic. Thanks, the memory of that hunt means more than the inches. Photo taken New Years morning 2010 at sunrise, it was -15 degrees. I love late season bowhunting and after a long uneventful fall it all came together the last day of the year! Totally rewarding!
Kris
Very nice!
Congrats on a fine looking stick! Hope she serves you well. I'll try one of those Dwyers some day!
Stunning! The Dwyers are great people and awesome bowyers!
Skunk hound, you're absolutely right about hand placement. Put your heel down on these bows and the stability of the shot really increases.
I've described these bows before as being very "pointable", meaning that the first cold shot is usually on the mark. Picked it up after work today and first group of arrows at 18 yards was right in there. I wouldn't think of this as a target bow. Very light mass weight, a tad more hand shock than say a recurve, etc. these bows are made to hunt.
Enjoyed watching you shoot your Dwyer last night and was impressed with how well your two girls shot, too. Keep up the good work!
Yep Tom, tough to coach your kids when they have better form than me.
Very very nice Mike. I want to try an original too. I love the woods!!
The is a very sweet looking bow!
Nice bow!
I've always wanted to try one and that one is simply "Pretty" and love the profile of it...
fantastic bows, and in my opinion the absolute best makers mark out there.
I've owned both and love both. That one is a keeper!
Sharp
Very nice bow. I like everything about it. Is the compass a sticker or hand dawn? I love that touch.
Hand drawn. That's their logo used on bows and hats, etc. Thanks for the compliments.
Beautiful Bow. Congrats.
That is a beautiful Dauntless. I have owned two (both a bit heavy for me), but that aside, great shooters and wonderful craftmanship. Probably will have to order one my size (LOL)!
Thanks for sharing!
That's a pretty bow, I had one and it was one of the best shooting bows that I have owned.
Pure class! I love the wood combos.
Sweet looking bow !!! Congrats
Bill
Wow guys you're flattering me as the original post is a year old! I'm still trying to decide if its this bow with surewood shafts or my liberty english with carbons that's going up the tree with me in eleven days for my bear hunting.
Guess I'd better decide pretty quick!
Nice thing is that you always have that compass on the bottom limb and it saved me a couple of times. :)
