Title: Saving a badly grooved, favorite glove?
Post by: moleman on July 25, 2013, 09:02:00 PM
HELP!!! My favorite shooting glove is far from worn out, but grooved to a point where a clean release is near impossible, is there any hope!

I'm a tab user myself but it sounds to me as if the glove is worn out.
It's just not the stitching or the leather that's worn out, it's the functionality.

you can soak it in hot soapy water and get all the salts and crud out of it. After it drys, give it a good coating of baseball glove oil and it should come back to life.  :)  I've been doing this to my gloves for years and they can get pretty crusty with all the sweat and dirt from your hands and arrows. The glove oil doesn't get dry and stiffen up at all. It's the best oil I've tried. (Louisville glove oil)  :)

Can you post a pic? I have saved my Neet glove with placing leather inserts inside the finger stalls.

I wash my Damascus glove every year with warm soapy water like Gap suggested. Once rinsed out I put it on to reshape it then take it back off and let it dry well before using Montana Pitch Blend to recondition it.

You can refurbish your glove as mentioned above ,but just get a new one and break it in before the season. Keep the old one as back up. They are not that pricey and it will keep a sponsor in business.
