I put in on a draw hunt for a Sage Grouse with a good friend of mine and it got me thinking if any Tradgang members have harvested any. If you have a story or picture post them up.
Prairie chicken or sage grouse, two different birds....
We have sage grouse here, but the numbers aren't what they used to be. Two month season, no draw. Plenty of sharptails though.
Don't have any pictures but we have prairie chickens in Kansas, they could be shot with a bow, often in the fall they fly into fields in the mornings and evenings but walk up shooting would be tough with a bow. They don't let you get as close a a pheasant.
Yes you are wright I'm after sage grouse sorry for my slang.

I was thinking the same thing
Charlie, Missouri? I went out two years ago and they were spooky and jumped up far. Shot a few flu flus, but the wind here just dragged my shafts off target. Fun hu ting that low sage for a change. We do whack quail in the vallies
Thanks for the great Pic's Charlie. Now I just need to draw the tags.
Roadkill... Yep, Missouri. Of course the birds were taken out west. Western Wyoming to be specific.
It's been a few years since my last sage grouse hunt and I hope I can get out and do it again soon.
Use broadheads. They are very tough. The only one I ever used a blunt on (hex head) flew over 150 yards and Im not sure we'd have found him without the aid of a dog. Broadheads anchor them.
