...and are about to set sail on an amazing voyage that is destined for troubled waters and will leave you stranded on a deserted island. You HAVE TO BUY ONLY a NEW BOW ( or bows?) nothing used! The island you will be miserably stranded on only offers you unimaginable and previously unseen beauty, game animals of your dreams, a couple beautiful (also stranded) natives that love to hunt and gather, unlimited pure fresh water, abundant natural resources to make all the arrows you will ever need......and the NFL package. So what do you purchase before you head out on this horribly doomed voyage?
I would call Steve at eagle wing and get him to build be a "plain" bow. No fancy expensive woods so he could keep the cost down. It would drive him crazy and he would do upgrades for free to "pretty it up" cause he just loves what he does. BUT I would have a top end performance bow that I would not feel bad beating up on an island!!!
Oh and if we can have the nfl package then I assume we could add the outdoor channel.....don't know if I could survive without that!!
Big Jim Buffalo in osage and walnut. You can keep the NFL package...who needs that when you have a couple beautiful natives?
Base model TallTines and have money left over. I have taken mine in the most inacessable, unforgiving, and downright nasty places in NA and it has never let me down. It would flourish forever in your paradise.

His description didn't say the natives were female! ---just beautiful people! :scared:
Bigfoot bow--1 piece to improve durability; probably flatliner with special side plate configuration to shoot cane and shoot arrows and knapped heads. Learn to knap before departure and take plenty of band-aides! :jumper:
Another one of Mike Dunnaway's bows from Wildhorse Creek in the 50# range...
What's an "NFL package"..?
Beer. Lots of it.
Bigfoot static tip recurve, I beam riser, black glass

Well I have NEVER seen a beautiful male... :)
A bundle of Osage flatbows - $0
1/4# of BCY 8125g - $45
Leather Gloves $25
Lubricant $40
Sunglasses $40
Scotch Whiskey $670-770
Total $800-900
I'm also assuming that tobacco is a natural resource ...

X2 His Quest more specifically, but any of his models would work.
1 50# Bear Grizzly
1 Bear Delta Bow Quiver
1 dozen, flemish twist replacement strings
100 50-55# Surewood shafts
300 5" Shield cut feathers
200 nocks
4 Dozen, 2 blade 125gr Zwickey Eskimo broadheads
1 Bitzenburger jig with LW clamp
This should keep the old woodchucker going till the Great One decides it's time for me to make the Journey.....
A top of the line custom one piece longbow from stalker stickbows! Definitely the outdoor channel. 58" 45 @ 28" Medium wrist grip, curly maple and elm with osage accents and limbs. Also it would have sheep horn overlays.
I would call Kent Roberts and order a 3 piece TimberGhost. These bows are the best kept secret in traditional bows, one of the very best bows I have owned at an incredible value.
Stewart Slammer or Toelke Whip, no question.
I would seriously look at the ILF stuff out there. Mix and match risers and limbs...all sorts of combinations.
I would be quite content being stranded on a deserted island, with a Journeyman recurve bow drawing around 65# @ 28.Even would have a little left over to buy a few FMJ.I would not go hungry. :archer2:
A Northern Mist Superior. Simple, quiet, accurate, reliable. rat'
I would want a bow built to last and that I could depend on. Of all my bows that would be a Frontier 66. It was designed with that kind of scenario in mind. God bless, Steve
Bob Lee, Elite (basic model)but for a few more $ a bullet proof bow riser made of black phenolic would be ideal
$800-$900 is a chunk of change but unfortunately leaves you below many of the "premier" bows. Does it have to be new? There are lots of deals in the classifieds, I'd be very reluctant to drop that kind of money on a bow I wasn't familiar with. There are lots of good shooting bows out there but each has it's own feel and what I like you might not.
For a new bow in that price category I'd look at Kota bows, I've never had one but spent some time with them at a shoot a while back. Very impressive and several new ones were below your price.
Another bow that appeals to me in your price range is the new Bear '59 Kodiak reproduction...a real looker and I've read they shoot as well as they look.
I will not order/buy any custom bow for that kind of money without first seeing/shooting it. You could end up with a expensive wall hanger.
I`d try to find a Harrison HHC around 53lbs.RC
Used 3 pc ACS CX 64" and 50# :archer2:
I'd call Ed Scott.

How did you know??? Even better reason for a shipwreck adventure!!
Great Northern Jackknife Bushbow 50@28 Hickory limbs and a Shedua Riser. $800-$900 ain't enough loot for another Widow.
If they are female natives then i would take a cupid's bow for sure.
for real? and have to rely on it to survive? black widow PL one piece. for reliability
my 48'' samick horse bow quick as possum poo off Glass and a good knife and river cane arrows
opps forgot to add first aid kit
For a little more $ It would have to be a Widow, probably a PCH for me. There just a good bunch & there bows are tuff as nails.
A Raven longbow by Jack Kempf who I got to shoot with last weekend...nice to live where I do

Mike, if you got your brother to build the bow and had him overcharge you I think that might qualify

Awesome! :biglaugh:
I would call Jason and BEG him to reconsider using exotic woods and make me a 56" Kanati in tulipwood under clear glass! :p
Yeah I know, it shouldn't matter about how good the bow looks but in case I get "rescued" I'll still have a great looking bow. Plus, just in case the natives are male, I'll still have something purty to look at! Oh, yeah, I will want 3 dozen Beman MFX Classic arrows too.
Oh, and is it okay if Gene and Barry come along so as to hunt with and keep me and the "natives" entertained around the campfire?!?

 I like the osage bundles, because that is an ideal situation to work on self bows. BUT, I question this scotch choice even though i love a good dram. First, you are on a tropical island (not really scotchy). Second, there are beautiful people (who I assume are women - sorry Doc) and I don't know many scotch drinking women. Third, scotch is top dollar whiskey and not so great when quantity is needed. So me, I'd go with some cheap, but good spiced rum.
And just in case the natives are female then take some flameing arrows to scare off anyone that comes to rescue you.
Wow Killi, just. . . . wow.
John McDonald makes a nice bow for not a large chunk of cash. In that situation, I would take a Hill style bow so I could use it for shooting, for walking, for bopping skwerls over the head and a hundred other things. It would also leave me a wad for the scotch. It might be needed.
ChuckC
Northern Mist Shelton and some really nice woodies. The remainder of the money would go toward a hunt.
Whoever could build me the 'boo cable-backed bow on 110 of the Traditional Bowyer's Bible would get my dollar. That, some cane and fletching materials, and probably just some trade points for heads.
Martin Diablo or the Hoyt Gamemaster.
Cheapest Samick bow I could find -spend the rest on margarita mix and a pair of swim trunks.
A Palmer Classic recurve!
I really like my Das DX5 longbow. Later, you can add recurve limbs or change weight w/additional limbs.
Bows are a personal thing and only you will know what is right for you. I bought and sold on TG for a few years and know what I think are the best of the best but that may not work for you.
