Another great Archery Icon headed towards the Heavens. RIP Gail....

RIP Mr. Martin
MR. Martin will be missed
RIP Gail Martin, you will be missed.
God speed
Godspeed
Gail Martin and Larry Hatfield are two of the great ambassadors of archery...and we are very proud they called Washington State their home
A good man. He'll be missed. Maybe not the time but did they ever find a buyer for the company ?
Peace be with you MR. Martin
And Thanks for all you did.
Did a bunch for the good of the sport....RIP!

I am not sure if he ever found a bowyer. I do know that all the older bowyers that were with Martin retired. I was in the shop and they were trying to train a few young kids to take their place. If you get the chance take a trip to Martin Archery and take a tour. There is a lot of history at Martin Archery.
Miss ya Gail.
stickgunner, I think flinttim asked if a "buyer" has been found. The latest rumor I heard last week was that "secret" negotiations were taking place with a possible buyer.
...and yes, I believe most of the experienced bowyers from the Yakima facility did not make the move to Walla Walla. With Larry Hatfield now in full retirement, I'm concerned the trad line will never be the same.
Gail and Larry had a special fondness for the trad community, and their moving on will definitely have an adverse affect.
Another of archery's innovators and legends passes.
Martin bows continue to be some of the best made out there.
Thanks for all you did for the sport Gail!
God speed.
My condolences to the Martin family. One of my archery hero's from a long time Martin/Howatt Fan.

Rest in peace & thanks for all you did for us all :campfire:
Our Brother comes to you as swift & straight, as an arrow shot into the sun.
Welcome him to his place at the Eternal Campfire.
Sorry guys. I was answering a pm and the question was asked about the bowyers that Martin had left. I decided to post it here so all could read rather than getting asked a bazillion more times.
I also heard there was negotiations going on as well. I hope it stays state side.
See you boys tomorrow.
That's too bad. I like their bows. He ran a good company and I liked the way they did business. Gary
RIP
Prayers sent upward for him and his family.
And my heart felt thanks to Gail for what he's done for our shared sport.
Gail and wife Eva were inducted into the Archery Hall of Fame in 2012, and for good reason:

■Took Up Archery at 14; Began Bowhunting in Late 1940s
■Martin Archery Initially Produced Custom Arrows, Archery Accessories, Bowstrings, and QualityRecurves; Introduced Its First Compound Bow in 1975, a One-Cam Model
■Purchased Damon Howatt Archery in 1976 and Expanded the Martin Line of Traditional and Modern Bows To Suit Any Archer's Needs
■Wife Eva, Sons Dan and Terry, and Grandson Ryan Assisted In Building the Martin Archery Business
he will be missed. :campfire:
I had the privilege to meet Mr. and Mrs. Martin in their home while up in that country pheasant hunting. They invited us up to the factory the next day for a personal tour. Very gracious and welcoming folks. I will hold that memory in my heart. I am sure they both touched a lot of people in that way.
:notworthy:
Heartfelt condolences to the Martins.
It is sad to hear the name of yet another archery icon passing on. But these folks sure left a great legacy for us. Let's hope we can all leave something behind that will reflect well on our sport, for we have certainly had many set a good example for us.
