I was talking with Mr. JD Berry today when he asked a favor of me.
As it turns out Mr. Berry has built a bow of a design that he hasn't tried before.
The bow is a combination of the "Mistydawn" and the Morningstar" in that it is a string follow bow with a reverse handle.
Mr. Berry asked if I would be willing to accept shipment of the bow then put it through it's paces and give him my appraisal of how it performs.
I of course jumped on that plan immediately...lol
I wish I could remember the details about the bow to include now but I will have to fill in the specs on the bow when it arrives.....ole-timers struck again)
After a short period of shooting it I will send it on to the address that will be included in with the bow.
God bless,Mudd
Yea keep us posted. God bless.
Good for you my friend. I'll be looking forward to the "bow report". :saywhat:
Aw geez....here we go again with something else I'm gonna want. :D
I never knew "huckleberry" meant you were a bow tester?! Lol! If that is the case I want to be someone's "huckleberry" too. Congrats on the awesome opportunity and I'll be looking forward to the test results.
I can't wait for the pictures! Good on ya brother! Great talking to ya tonight.
Bob.
Ps, I have rediscovered my Osage Royale and am loving shooting it, cool Chuck is mentioned in the Ed Pitchkites book you gave me.
Mudd,
I know the movie for that quote...great scene.
Congrats. I'm sure you will make it sing and then provide good input as a "tester".
You go, ole Hoss!
Mudd,
The term "Huckleberry" back in it's day meant "pallbearer"! Not sure I spelt that correctly... So who are you putin in the ground? :jumper:
It can also mean "the right person to do the job " and that be you Mudd...
That sounds like a fun opportunity. Looking forward to your comments after you try it out.
Lucky guy Mr. Mudd. Hahaha
A couple of things this bow taught me today after about 100 or so arrows.
My 1st arrows out of it made me immediately think of a "Bumblebee"(that's not supposed to be able to fly) in that a 62" bow that only draws 42@28 should not be able to shoot like this one.
One is that Mr Berry can build a bow that draws as smooth or smoother than my Vixen.("Amazon Lady")
62" bows can be built with all the good characteristics of a longer limbed bow without the loss of any performance or smoothness.
The conclusion I came to was...I want one for myself and I placed my order...lol
God bless,Mudd
PS: I will get some pictures posted, hopefully before the day is out.
 that sounds like fun!
Mudd, did they discover oil on your place? :saywhat:
Bro Mudd you got to many Bows ya don't need another one or do ya
David mitichell, I'll take that that bet, you're wrong. James

David I am surprised that you'd think that.
The truth is I may not explain things in such a manner that it meets with the standards of all the detailed oriented folks but I will always tell you the truth and in such a way that most can understand.
If I shoot something that I think is a superior bow I will do best to get one of my own.
I can tell you that Mr James had nothing to do with my order other than taking it.
If that was one of his sales methods then by golly it's a good one...lol
I am totally honored to get the chance Mr Berry gave me.
His servant, Mudd
MUdd,
I have a secret to tell!!!!! I talked to James about that bow last week. And my name is comming up on the list. Guess what I will have REAL SOON!!
James could not have picked a better person to test his bow, good on ya.
James and Mudd, I sure hope you saw the laughing icon on my post--totally kidding you. I enjoy your reviews of your experiences with various bows. I have a J D Berry on my list of wanted bows. My apologies if my post was misunderstood. :knothead:
David,
I was about to comment on your post. I read the joking nature of it, and I feel they just missed that part.
another bow Mudd? :knothead:
:bigsmyl:
Bob
Glad to hear the Huckleberry explanation. For a second I thought you were gonna shoot it out with Val Kilmer. I know you will give the bow a full workout and provide the bowyer with a lot of good feedback. Let us all know how things turn out.
It's all good David.
Please accept my apology for my knee jerk reaction.
You are correct in that I didn't see the laughing icon or it didn't register with me.
Thanks everyone for the supportive and kind words.
God bless,Mudd
No problem, Mudd. Keep showing us the goodies you come across. I always enjoy the delight you get from flinging arrows. May it always continue.
Really need to see a pic of this bow.
Let me guess..it's got a wenge riser and yew and boo core And it says misty dawn "r" on the limbs? That's would be the string follow reverse handle that I asked James to build for me and that just got finished.. Sounds like he sent my bow out to you mudd..
Hunt hold,
You bow just got a serious dose of "Mudd Mojo" be careful with that bow because it has now been christened and will take you to Mudds Sherwood Forest.
If you are lucky maybe Mudd will include a Mudds Merrymen hat with it!!!!
Well since my new bow is now a "demo" bow , I guess I need to call James and get the used price worked out..
:archer2:
James made the first custom bow I ever saw or owned...a Viper... many many years ago... I have been an addict ever since. Funny thing is I only gave a quiver for it so I let it go for a quiver when I went to a lighter draw. It was as fine a bow as there was ever made but at 70# I had to let her go. I will own another one day as they are still a working piece of art. Keep up the fine work sir!
Mudd...you are a lucky man my friend!
Bob
Well I goofed up :knothead: that's "not" my bow!! I guess that would of been unheard of for a bowyer to send someone else's bow out to someone else before sending it to the new owner...my bad..

I believe it is the "Northstar" Mr Melrose.
If it is yours are in for some "shock and awe"!!
This bow is a "Bumblebee" of bows.
"Bumblebees" being built as they are should not be capable of flight and short longbows aren't supposed to be this smooth.
For a light weight bow 42@28 it should not be flinging 564 grain arrows with the speed and authority that this does.
I hope whoever gets it is as impressed with it as I am.

Mudd...my friend...it appears that you have a beautiful left handed , slight reflexed bow...and have strung it backwards... at least that's what it looks like... except for the stitching...
Bob
Before everyone starts calling to order one of these you need to know that this design won't be scheduled to go into production until sometime after the beginning of the year, if at all.
All of the testing and changes(if any be needed) before it can become one that's offered on Mr Berry's web page.
God bless,Mudd
ohhhhh man....... i love that.. if james builds it, i know it will fling an arrow.
Just couldn't help yourself could ya Mudd, another Berry bow.lol Good for you. Life's to short not to enjoy a few of the little things along the way.
Wow, Mudder, that is a sexy bow right there now. You are a blessed man to have been asked to " preview " such a marvelous work of art. JD is truly a master. I enjoyed the pics a lot. Good on ya buddy.
Bob.
Nice!

I shot some really heavy arrows out of the "Bumblebee" today.. impressive little bow!
God bless,Mudd
PS: The arrow wt was 905 gr.
You can't help but like a man named Mudd. You have my respect sir. May the Lord continue to bless you in all you do.
p.s. That bow still looks strange to me. :bigsmyl:
Roy, any idea why the grip is slightly dished on the wrong side ... I think that would drive me nuts.
Bob.
Actually Bob I think you'd love how it would feel when you put your hand to it.
God bless,Mudd
