I'm looking or some arrows for a 40 pound recurve cut past center. Will GT 3555's tune okay for this bow?
Jon
They will tune fine, with the right combination of length and tip. If you're into bare shafting, start full length with a 125 grain tip, and start cutting 1/4" at a time.
If you want a somewhat speedier arrow, use a 1535 with a 75 or 100 grain tip. Depending on the tip, you should be able to cut this a little shorter.
The 3555 would be a better hunting choice; the 1535 a better 3D choice.
The 1535 will work for you and are only 9 grain difference at 29 I inches on the bare shaft when you compare to a 35/55. a 50 grain brass insert and 145 point and you will make up any noticeable weight difference. Plenty of shaft for whitetail etc. and they are tuff and fly like a dart. imo
well these will be hunting arrows so I want my weight into at least the 450 grain range.
will the 3555 work better with this in mind?
Thanks.
Jon
What length?
1535 will be a better shaft.
doesn't matter off hand. I like to bare-shaft tune.
Jon
OK if you think 15/35 will be better I will go with those. Thanks.
Jon
If your recurve is cut a fair amount past center maybe the 35/55 will work for you... I'd be looking at the 15/35... I think you would be able to get perfect flight easier with it... Work with the tip weight until it flies for you.
If you want a heavier arrow of about 10gpp go with 3555 with a 125g point. If you want a faster arrow of about 9 gpp, go with 1535 and 100g or 85g point. Start with full length and cut them down if too weak.
Yeah full length if you want 450gr plus. Otherwise go 1535
