Title: Mt Dutton East, Utah late season elk hunt
Post by: Mike Orton on July 19, 2013, 01:01:00 AM
Does anyone have any info they can share regarding a late season elk hunt in the Mt Dutton East Game Management Unit, near Panguich, Utah?  Wondering what to expect about snow fall and terrain late December and early January...

I drew a cow tag for the late season and would like to start doing my homework.

Snow fall will vary depending on the year. Last year it was real lite snow year and we hardly had any snow at high elevation. Other years we can have heavy snow fall by mid October. Terrain wise you have it all. From sage brush flats with pine and juniper to high elevation with aspen and pine forest. Rifle hunters will give lots of competition on that hunt but few will leave their trucks that time of year. Good luck!
