Hi folks. I plan on shooting more arrows with broadheads for practice and don't like my current setup. I have lost a couple heads in a roundbale and don't like how quickly the foam targets get torn up (even the rinehart). I am planning on making a sandbox target for my backyard. I have a sandpit in the back end of the property, so I have plenty of sand. I guess I need to build a wood frame and fill it, but I was hoping that some of you good folks would post how you have done it. In my mind, a 3 sided box would have the sand at an angle so that it wouldn't spill out the front. I don't know if there is any way around that to get a more vertical type of target face. Any input would be appreciated.

We have one at our club, Its a 3 sided Box filled High Its enormous actually it kinda has to be. then we strung up milk juggs to han in front so you hit those and they slow down before they get to the sand and there you have it

I had already seen that post, but it only has the one design, really. Hoping some others that have built them in different ways will share.
Matt, could you estimate the height, width, and depth?
I was thinking about using a 55 gallon plastic barrel partly full of sand and laid on its side. I have one with no lid or job. Anyone use this idea for a broadhead target? It would be sort of "semi-mobile" even if heavy.
I'd bet our wall is 15x15 (feet that is)
And I would bet there's every bit 2' deep. If not more.
You dont need to get that carried away if you have a area that has a small hill dig into the side of it and pile the dirt, sand, behind it cut out cardboard silouettes of deer or whatever and position them so your arrow hits the sand behind it. If you dont have any elevation changes it could be a little tougher but you could still pile sand. One thing to remember is sort out as many rocks as possible for obvious reasons.
I keep a big dirt pile in the yard for shooting broadheads.
