Anybody got some teaser pics of the new SC low country hog huntin' capital? I'm actually gettin' excited to get to go some time :)
I will in December! :goldtooth:
Bud,
I know that Andrew is in the process of moving the facilities over to a much nicer site near the boat ramp. Also doing more selective cutting and planting of food plots.
As soon as pics come through, I will post up!
We've got a fun group going the first week of December. Gonna be an epic adventure!!
Bob
Boat ramp? Hmmm...,
The general area is great for hogs! I may have to check out Wild Things one day too!
Hope you have fun Bud!
I did get an email from the "secretary"......fancy, fancy, LOL.
Can't wait to set up a trip.

Me too. I hit reply all just to guess how many got the reply... :D
Been down there a few times. The old Hog Heaven trailer was getting kind of worn out. The new set up will be new accommodations (Cabins and a lodge as i understand). The bunting will be on the same beautiful property along the Savanah River. I can't wait to get back there. It is a beautiful place. Bud, if you want more info just give me a shout.
I've been once. I hate Ray's not gonna be so involved but am excited for the new. I worked some unexpected overtime that'll be enough for a hunt and gas money to get there and back.
Now to plan. Gotta get everything right.
Anyone have the contact info for Wild Things? I've been to Hog Heaven and obviously booked through Ray, but was wondering how or if Andrew is handling bookings for Jan/Feb 2014. I'd like to put together a Michigan group. Thanks!

This will be the "lodge" where meals will be cooked and eaten. There is also a bunk house beside this, and a really cool pavilion right down by the lake. Looks like it will make a really nice camp! I'll be posting more pictures in the coming weeks.
Thom
Just like Bud, I have had some extra income and will continue to work like crazy for a few more months. That will finance a few hunts and a trip to "hunt wild things" is on the list.
Website's looking good Thom.
Well I just might be spending some time there as it appears the Bacon Strip lease is going to be history...tippit

Andrew that sounds like a great idea.

This is Andrew from Wild Things formerly Hog Heaven in the Low Country of South Carolina. Ray directed me here and I wanted to join in to answer any questions you might have. I'm techno challenged, so please bear with me.
Our website is in the works and will be up and running soon. Thank you for your patience and interest.
If you are interested in booking a hunt, checking on dates, or to just talk about the property, hunting in general, or offering advice and suggestions, my personal number is 803.943.8818 and I will return each call ASAP. My email is huntwildthings@hotmail.com. The work on the property is ongoing. We received eight inches of rain on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Many fields are planted in peas, sorghum and soybeans will be planted soon, along with fruit trees such as pear and persimmon, along with mast producing trees in the pine uplands.
Thank you for the positive notes you have sent. I'm sure you will all be happy with the changes.
Andrew
Andrew,
You must have found a kid to help you get on here and post! See, I told you it wasn't that hard. :) This is where the majority of your hunters will come from, it's good to see you post.
Hey, I saw the picture of your "shotgun house". I get it now. Can't wait to see it in person!
Dave
Welcome back to posting Andrew. I'll be calling you in a month or two for later in the year :)
Thanks for posting, Andrew! I too will be getting in touch regarding a Jan/Feb date. We have a few shoots this summer in Michigan where I'll see who's up for coming with me...might be a few Hog Heaven regulars we can scrounge up! Can't wait to come back down!
Andrew,
I will be in touch. I am looking forward to coming down to that beautiful country again soon and often. Thanks for keeping it going.
Joe
Andrew, appreciate you posting and will be anxiously awaiting the updates.
Had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Andrew both trips to HH. Looking forward to crossing paths again.
Andrew,
The group for the first weekend of December is pumped! Enjoyed our initial introduction last September. Looking forward to the new operation and to spending time in camp with you and the Wild Thangs group!
Bob Corbitt
I've got a call scheduled with Andrew to talk about the website. We should have some more updates and maybe some new content posted before I head to Comptons this weekend.
Thom
I know Ray's Hog Heaven had a heck of a run....I killed 3 my 1st visit including a 300#+ shielded sow "Bride of Horse Tail".
I'm sure the success stories and wonderful memories will continue. I'd like to personally thank Andrew for allowing Ray to take hunters, including me, as an greatly enjoyed every minute on the property....and cherish the memories.

Thank you all for the nice comments. We had over eight inches of rain last week so the land is flooded and the roads almost impassable. I was supposed to have a track hoe, bulldozer, and over equipment come in this week to enlarge some fields, build a couple of new roads, and to put another crossing across King Creek for better access to the swamp that will be nearer the new hunting camp. Hopefully, the land will be drying some next week so we can proceed.
Many fields and road shoulders have been planted in peas and the hogs and, especially, the deer are being seen much more frequently. Thank you again. Will write more soon. Andrew

Construction has begun in earnest on the cabin and bunkhouse for the new Wild Things camp. My builders have gotten behind with their schedule because of the near record rains that we've been having this spring and summer. Although the camp completion will be in early September, I've chosen to start accepting bookings for October 1.
Most of the fields are planted now in iron clay peas, an excellent source of protein, and have already been chewed down to the ground. This has primarily been done by the deer but we will be planting soybeans, sorghum, and more peas as soon as we can get back in the fields.
For those of you who have are familiar with this property, all of the swamp roads have been expanded and planted, which will add miles and miles of walking and stalking opportunities. Corn is put out every day. Sightings of hogs and deer are already much mor numerous than just a month ago.
Will try to keep current postings here more regularly. Thank you all again for your calls, emails, and interest in Wild Things.
Andrew
Thank you Andrew for keeping us updated.
My deposit goes out in the morning for our annual hunt. It looks likely that we will fill the camp. I am very anxious to see the new facilities.
Andrew,
Thanks for the updates and for all the efforts to make this experience even more memorable (if that can even be done)!
:

Looking forward to our December trip to Wild Things.
Andrew,
Now that the Bacon Strip as gone to new owners. Keep me in mind if you have one person cancellations open up. I'm in Aiken from November through June and will be looking for a hog fix next winter :) tippit
I talked with Andrew just before I went on vacation, there will be some more good stuff for the website soon. I'll give this a ttt when the next set of updates are up.
Thom
Outstanding news.
I got all the info on the homepage updated today, there is a bunch more coming but I think a few of you fellas might want to give it a read when you get a chance.
Thom
Great looking place! The old trailer had some ambiance but the cabin and pavilion look awesome. Can't wait to visit with Andrew again and get back there into hogs, the swamp, and mischief. Come on December!
:bigsmyl:
My overtime pay is about to hit the wallet...I guess I need to contact Andrew soon!!
Another quick update:
Because of continued torrential rains (another ten inches in five days last weekend), a lot of work to be done has been delayed. However, over one hundred pear, persimmon, and oaks were delivered this morning to be planted next week in the game fields in the upland (pines) areas of the property. A backhoe will be moving in on Monday to clear a seventeen acre field for hog and deer plantings. Hopefully, by the time that particular field is finished, it will have dried out enough for new road construction and a new crossing in to the swamp. Construction and renovation continues on the cabin and bunkhouse. Will post pictures on the website from time to time. Many thanks to Thom Jorgensen for his patience and to ending help. I thank all of you for your interest and bookings. I assure you all that it will be a good and memorable experience.

I meant to say, "thanks to Thom Jorgenson for his patience and UNENDING help".
