Title: I've Got it BAD!....Savannah Captures my Heart!
Post by: Wannabe1 on July 16, 2013, 08:13:00 PM
Well, guess there'll be one last change for my hunting setup this season. I was going to hunt with my Kodiak Hunter but, this Savannah has me falling in love with it! I have small hands for someone of my height and the grip on the Savannah feels like it was made for me. Arrow placement is just on the top of the hand providing me with excellent shot consistency. I shot 3 sets of 3 and here is #7, #8 and #9 at 15yds.   :bigsmyl:

el greco: The Savannah is 45# @ 28". Since my shoulder rehab, I'm pulling 28.5" shooting a 29.5" b.o.p. AD Trad Lite with 125gr tip. I'm still playing around with it but, it seems to like a brace height of 7 1/2". I've got an order into Josh Sowerby for a D10 string to put on it. I'll think that'll make a world of difference also.

I didn't feel hardly any hand shock and she was quiet enough without string silencers.

6-7 for brace it will be faster there, for the shaft, think heavy and it will hit with a lot of force. They are a great bow, The Footed Shaft had a 45 I almost grabbed. (Used) someone got it, it's gone now.

Yep, that was me!   :bigsmyl:  Those folks at The Footed Shaft are top notch. This is like my 4th bow from them. Great guys, great service!

Will drop the brace to 7" when I get the D10 string and see how that goes.

The camera angle is deceptive. There is a little space in between the three arrows but, they were pretty close.

I shoot my Savannah better than any other bow I have.  It is 55 @ 28" and I pull 27".  It likes a 7" brace height.  You got yourself a good one!

I have never shot one but I have looked them over and they look like a really good bow design. If I were to pick a factory d and r to shoot I would make them first choice.
God bless, Steve

When the Savannah first hit the streets I was a Martin dealer at the time and I could not keep them in stock. Larry Hatfield made 2 for me that were different. One had English yew and the other had bamboo in the limbs. Neither of them shot as well as the standard limbs of bubinga and zebrawood. The English yew blew up and the bamboo is out there somewhere. These are fine bows as good as any custom out there.

I love mine. 50 pounder I bought several years ago.
It will sling an arrow pretty fast.
I shoot 2018s from mine and they fly really well.
Ive ate up by delta target with it.
Good luck this year.

I definitely agree that this bow is as good as any custom I have shot and owned. And that's been a few of 'em.

I was telling Ringneck last night, if I had tried one years ago when I wanted too, I'd sure have saved a lot of money!    I am going to start saving for a 40# backup Savannah and try and make them my primary bows. This bow is fantastic!!

You're gonna love the string from Josh.  When you get it, pay attention to which loop has a little thread tied to it.  That's the bottom loop.  The loops are small cause the string nocks on the Savannah are small.  Normally, the top loop is larger but on the strings that Josh twists for this bow, they are pretty close in size.  You can still tell which is larger when you hold them together, but they are pretty close in size.  But that is how the loops should be for this bow.  I am getting ready to order another one from him as a backup string.  As raming said above, this bow loves a heavy arrow.  Good luck with yours!

Well, got my D10 12 strand padded to 14 string from Oliverstacy today. Got 'er on the bow, set brace to 7" and put on my nock. I'm zinging arrows like crazy now! Love this bow so much, I picked up another one @ 40#'s.   :bigsmyl:

Great looking bow! The Savannah is pretty unusual having a bubinga core for limbs. Heavy but tough wood. But seems like it works good.
