Found this at the top of a hill on our hunting property (Hancock Co., GA). We have found several arrowheads and a hawk head. Unfortunately, it was broken in half.
As smooth as an egg, I doubt a river brought this rock to the top of a hill.
Thanks in advance. Dan

Broken Hammer Stone???
?????????
Look's like the poll end of an ax, broke at the groove....is it polished all over except for the lower left side(break area)?
Indian love stone??
Looks like a hammer stone or a pestal for grinding.
one of dem hard to figure deals to me.
kinda small to be a grinding stone ... and although it could be, just don't look like a hammerstone to me.
Were there flakes and debitage where it was found? Sometimes looking closely at everything at a spot will clue tool type/usage.
Top of the hill likely was not the top of the hill 15,000 years ago either.
The again, someone may have had it in their pocket cause it looked neat fifty years ago, and decided they'd carried it far enough when they topped that hill. :knothead:
hope that clarifies things. :bigsmyl:
Thanks for all the replys. Just may be one of those Indian love stones!
There is no sign of a groove, and found it in a food plot that I plow and plant regularly, so no more evidence found.
ADMIN- sorry for the off topic.
Thanks, Dan
I thought it might be a hammer stone or hand axe till I looked at the ruler. Maybe a small scraper?
What stobber said.
