I am looking for a shooting glove that is thicker than a , Damascus, but thinner than American Leathers. Something that lets me feel the string a little, but still gives good protection. Any suggestions?
Toby, I like the American Leathers but it sounds like the Bateman single layer glove of cordovan leather would be perfect for you.
Black Widow PDQ glove. (The one without the cordovan overlays which is the PDQ Super glove I believe). It will seem a bit stiff at first, but once you have it broken in it's great. I've had a damascus, Big Shot, and Crossover gloves but when I shoot a glove I still prefer the Black Widow.
You might want to check out the Dura-Glove from 3Rivers. I still prefer my Damascus, but I reach for my Dura-Glove if I've been shooting a lot and my finger are getting a little sore.
I just purchased a Duraglove from 3 Rivers. I can really feel the string good and still have good protection for my fingers, and the release is really smooth.
Duraglove x2 :)
Dura-Glove for me also. I don't think you can go wrong with it.
The deer skin glove from black widow 224 in there catalog
Bearpaw Speed Glove.
I shot dura-gloves from3Rivers for years. On a friends recommendation I tried a stick-tite glove. It lets you feel the string but gives you enough protection. I really like it myself. Black Widow sells them. I bought mine off (The Knocking Point). Mike's good to deal with. A while back there were some posts showing the glove. That's all I use now.
I shot a Damascus glove for years but it is a thin glove. Got the Duraglove a couple years ago and like it for its smooth release and it looks very durable. Then last winter I had to break down and try the American Leathers Big Shot. I have to keep them separated because they fight over who will get to shoot today. :) It can get pretty ugly with all that velcro flying and the finger twisting. I love them both.
Am personally fond of the Dura Glove. Provides adequate protection, yet permits a nice feel of the string.
Note: Have also extensively shot the Damascus and American Leather
