Title: What does it mean when....
Post by: BassBow on July 10, 2013, 09:19:00 PM
Your fletched arrows consistently shoot left of your bare shafts? My bare shafts are flying down the middle and my fletched shafts are going left? I am a righty.

Thanks!

Are you shooting them cock feather in or out.

For me it seems to be a form or anchor issue.

Cock feather out. 18-20 yards, 8-10"inches left.

Thoughts?

Put on some heavier points and see what happens.

That is the "planing" method when you compare point of impact of bare to fletched. Your results are showing you are weak. For more info, check the A&H Archery site.

Adding weight to the front weakens the spine and adding weight (your feathers) stiffens the spine on the rear of the arrow. If they fly perfect with no feathers then when you add the weight of the 3-4 feathers its causing the shaft dynamics to change. This is minimal weight but I have seen it happen when bare shafting. Try using a lighter weight up front with your fletched arrows and compare the results.

No. It's just the opposite. His bare shafts are going to the right of his fletched arrows which means his choice of arrow spine is too weak. Bare shafts to the left of fletched means too stiff. Bare shafts to the right of fletched means too weak.
