Does anyone know of a seller that deals in refinished Grayling Bear bows? I'd like to buy at least one of each model. Preferably a TG sponsor. If not refinished, at least excellent original condition.
Thanks!
One of each model.....Holy cow, that's a lot of bows. Any special year or all years? I would contact Jack Shanks here on the site!
Ron, after I typed that and posted it I see I should explain. OVER TIME I'd like to get one of each, as a nice collection. One Kodiak, one Kodiak Special, one Kodiak Magnum, etc. That's the end goal. For now I'd like to pick up one or two nice Graylings. I've had 3 over the last 3'years, two Magnums and a Hunter...but they've moved on. I'm especially partial to those Magnums.
Since Bear changed the specs. and/or looks of each model from year to year, I think I would pick a specific year.
In my opinion, and I'm sure others agree, the prime of quality Bear bows was 1959-62. Pick one of those four years and you will have a great collection!
Or 1967
Super Kodiak
58" KH
'67 Grizzly is dynamite
A few nice target bows available in 1967....
Watch out...I started wanting just a 1964 Kodiak. I now have every year of many models!
I would echo what Lon suggested. Unless a model you wanted were available, like the 67-69 super kodiak, or 69-70 Type I takedown. I thought all Kodiaks would be easy, Hah.
Or consider having them restored as you find them. I've seen some done by Trad Gang sponsors that looked like they day they came out of the Grayling shop.
I hope you have ALOT of money!!!!!
Honestly, I would just take your time & look for good condition Bears, at affordable prices... Most, just need a good cleaning up. After all, they are 40-50 years old!!! Minor dings & scratches give character to the old Bears, and usualy, hardly noticeable. You could even take some of the "cheaper" priced ones you buy and try refinishing them yourself.
As some have suggested, pick a particular year, or maybe better, a particular model!!! I'm a big Grizzly fan!!! I have several years, and it's easy to see the differant changes in styling.
Good Luck with your future collection!!!!!
Yeah woodchucker, the more I think about it I think refinishing myself will be a lot more rewarding...and cheaper! Thanks for the input guys.
