Passing time until hunting season.. And got to thinking
We've all seen those only one bow questions (and hated them).....but here it is with a twist.
You can only own one bow. Which would it be? The twist is that you can only choose a bow that you've never owned before.
Mine would be a Stewart Slammer. I've never even handled one, but there isn't a single negative post I've been able to find about them.
I'd sure like to have Centaur's Big Jim ThunderChild. I've reminded him a couple times that should he ever want to sell it, I'd sure like to be in line for it.

I'de like to have an old bear takedown. I like longbows mostly but there is just something about them old takedowns that I love.
Love that thin sexy handle on a pronghorn
Probably a Squatch, I've shot most of the other one's I'd like
That's a tough one. The hard part is thinking of a bow I haven't owned at one time or another. :knothead:
Oh wait, I've got it. A Tall Tines!
Hmmmmm.
A Java Man Duoflex of around 50#.
One of Dean Torges osage self bows 62" 50-55lbs without question.
69 b handle 3 limbs at 60# radiused shelf no doubt! If it worked for Fred it would work for me....
Easy.
1967 64" Super Kodiak.
42-46#
A Java Man Elkheart 56" 52 @ 26......it's been on order since Jan.but I don't own it yet so it's legal. :biglaugh:
Whippenstick, TD.
One of Big Jim's sounds pretty good
I'm a longbow man and I would love to own an Ed Scott Horn bow.
Silver tip
Black Widow PMAX 60" 50@28. Macasser Ebony riser and Myrtle Burl limbs.
stewart LIL slammer
Black Mountain Sheepeater Spirit recurve
I am a die-hard fan of the two bows I shoot, both Black Widows.
But if I were going to go with a different bowyer... I'd go for a 64" Cari-bow Silver Fox 3-piece longbow at 62# @ 31" draw.
I like Bob Lee recurves a lot, too. But the Cari-bow is what I'd buy, and I've done a lot of thinking outside of that "Black Widow" box over the past couple of years.
BUT, back to reality... if I were going to spring for another bow right now, it would be a Black Widow PLX with nearly the same specs as the one I have now, only about 10# heavier.
64" 2pc Toelke Whip. Or maybe a Bob Lee Ultimate with Stabi-lock and...longbow limbs.
Threeunder get a Slammer, they are wonderful longbows.
A Bow River Archery Oldtimer recurve. Made by Rick Lepp. He stopped making bows before I had a chance to get one and I've always regretted it.
I would have said his Whitetailer TD longbow but I picked up a used one piece not long ago so I think that may violate the rules of this post.
To many choices! But I really want a t/d Toelke Whip.
62 inch silvertip with fastflight option 55 ish pounds.
WOW!!! Only 1 bow??? And it HAS to be a bow that I've never owned before?????
Hmmm..... No Grizzly??? Well, I would have to say..... A new, 60" 45# "Grayling Green" Super Kodiak!!!
I've been looking at these for awhile.....
Dan Toelke's new SS recurve. 65 lbs @ 32" would do the trick nicely.
LH Sunset Hill
Black widow recurve 60" and about 55-60@28" any color.
A 58" 50#@28 Black Widow PSR
64" 50@28 Silvertip takedown recurve with all phenolic riser and black and white ebony lams, clear glass, maple core. But haven't really given it much thought :saywhat:
Sasquach SS.65# at 29 in.
Brandon Stahl Special Edition Ultra Delight 60" 50#@28"
Bob Lee Ultimate with Stabilok
60" Dryad Orion with the ACS-RC Static Recurve limbs.
If I were to only own and shoot one bow, it would have to be the one that keeps me from getting a new longbow. My somewhat whip ended yew/bamboo from a five lam Hill blank. I keep trying to get myself a new Hill style bow, but I simply cannot get past this bow.
Caribow Slynx 60@29
Id have to go with one of Kirk's Squatches.....never held one, shot one, seen one in person. But Kirk seems like a cool dude....his bows are beautiful and it seems like he loves and is proud of his work! Grip looks like it would be all me.....and the word on the street is that these things are no slouch in the performance category! :saywhat:
The only bow I've ever hunted with (after being cured of wheelitis) is an old pre headski red wing hunter and the older gentleman from my church that got me into trad, who i guess you could call a mentor of sorts, shoots a late 90s/early 2000s bob lee take down. So I think I'll go with a bob lee natural takedown with longbow limbs. Lets make it 60" and somewhere in the high 40s/low 50s. Love the stabilok, but last I looked, it was only available on phenolic risers, which I don't care for.
Dean Torges BBO Firestick without hesitation.
I'd love to own a shrew 70@28
I would like to give a Bii Stewart multi-cam recurve a try.

I second this. If I ever do own one, it will have to be on the down low, or else my wife will have to be blissfully ignorant on the price. $3000+ for a bow is easily grounds for divorce in my marriage.
DEATHMASTER by Bob Savage
If you have one at 50# I would love to own it.
Boy, that's a tough one. Because I am a short bow aficionado, that limits my choices. I would say a Tolke kestrel w/ a bow bolt in a recurve and a 54" Centaur t/d in a longbow. Decisions, decisions.......
Mine would be a Harrison t/d 66" 58# @30"
Zipper "Standard" riser recurve. 62" 46# @28
Ron
I'd go with a JD berry taipan. I know James products, and its one I'm interested in.
Zipper Elkaholic LB with snakewood veneers
RER
I would also like to own a Javaman Elkheart.
58" 52@27
It will be on my list! :bigsmyl:
I will have to say a Black Widow PLX 60# @ 28" with koa limbs. I don't own it yet but it should be done in about a month or so.
Big Jim Thunderchild with black and white ebony or dalmatian veneers.
Dean Torges yew selfbow... something unique... surprise me :)
David Miller Sage.
Matlock Predator X3
Caribow Wolverine 50# Bocote and cocobolo riser Burl limbs with antler accents. We're dreamin right.
Owl
Either a Northern Mist Shelton or a Hill Redman. It's a coin toss.
Big five , the best bow that I've own . And I've own a lot of bows .
One I've never owned before? Shrew Samurai
I've owned most , Got a lot now so I guess it would have to be a tossup between the South Cox Static and the CAribow Static. Both great bows and great bowyers.
I see a bunch of you are not playing the game. If you already own or have owned one you cannot get the same thing.
God bless, Steve
For me....Blacktail!
Big Jim thunder Child, I have been on the list since March.
Border Black Douglas Swift, TCS, ILF
A&H ACS
A mint condition 1969 64" Super Kodiak about 45-50@28".
