You say you took them off, did you have more than one on the bow ? I have never noticed any extra noise from a tip protector.

If leather is your thing then maybe shoot the bow with it for a while see if the leather starts to break in and soften up. Much like a good tab or shooting glove.

try out baby bottle nipples work wonders. Nice little secret I read about on these forums.

I've got the same thing on my longbows - a bit of a rattle when the leather tip protector is on. Have though about taking it off, but I'm not always as careful as I should be when putting the bows down.

Mine definitely made noise, and definitely went away when removed.  Just go natural now instead...

I use one and it doesn't make any noise. It does like to stick in the stringer though and gives me fits when stringing/unstringing.

Proper fit is necessary for no noise. It must fit snugly, not loose at all.

Yes, leather tip protectors are loud. Get rid of them.

Interesting what Bud B. said, as mine does fit very tight, and makes no noise as stated above.

Absolutely right!  I've made many over the years and if you use one it must fit very tight. Make it so tight that you have to force it on and you can see the string grooves in the tip.

Yep!

If loose it'll sound like a June bug flutterin' in the bottom of a cup.

I also didn't notice the noise difference until I took it off. I was getting a "shock" thru my bow elbow at the shot, that is gone now too.
