Can anyone share with me their impression of Robertson recurve bows? I am looking at several takedown models but have no experience with them, other than to see pictures and go on their website. Any information would be appreciated!
Dan, the Robertsons make very well crafted smooth bows. I don't think you would be disappointed with one.
Dave, good to hear from you! I haven't been very active on Trad Gang for a bit due to work and home schedule. Hope you are having a good start to your summer. I appreciate the feedback. I have one I am considering. How would you compare to a Dale Dye? (you nust have known that would be one of my questions!) LOL
Top of the line bows. I picked up a Fatal Styk from the classifieds last year and love it!
The Robertson bow is a fine bow. FatalStyk, TribalStyk or the older Peregrines & Falcons are all nice shooting bows and quicker than they are given credit for.
I took a nice bear with my TribalStyk this spring and Dick is reducing the weight on a Peregrine for me right now.
D.P.
One of the best. Been in business for a long time.
I bought a Fatal Styk off the classifieds a while back to scratcht the itch I've always had to try a Robertson. Lets just say I was not disappointed! Very nicely made and great shooting bow. I really like the shape of the grip.
My pal JeffG swears by his. One is on my bow bucket list.
Fine bows. I no longer own mine but it was a killer.

I got to handle some of their newer stuff in Florida 2 years ago....they seemed pretty nice, I should have shot them when I had the chance.
Shot a fatal styk for several years, their grips are unbelievable and the bow itself is smooth and quiet
I just saw your bow list under your name. I've owned all on your list including a Robertson (have a Fatal Styk now). In my opinion, if you like the bows on your list, then you'll like the Robertson. As I said above, one of the best. They do have a try before you buy program as well.
Good luck
Kyle
I had a Purist longbow and currently have a Vision Falcon since 2007. I have been extremely satisfied with the craftsmanship, the beauty and performance of both bows. There are other good and great bows out there but I'll always buy Robertsons. Looking forward to a Wolfer one of these days.
Would suspect that the majority of great bows will never pass thru my hands.
About as good as it gets.

Dan,
I am with everyone else on this one great shooting bows. Easy on the eyes too. I had to find something to appease me after selling you that Shawnee. :banghead:
Craig
Just got a Fatal Styk in today on their test drive offer. My first impressions are very favorable. Very smooth and is the quietest recurve I have ever shot. The grip is fantastic and fits my hand great.
I've only had a Mystical, killed most of my critters with it. Just a hell of a bow, I'm trying to find it here locally so I can get it back somehow. I would like to own one of their recurves someday, too.
You don't see them for sale in the classifieds very often.
Probably the best thumbs up a bowyer could ever get.
Dan I would give it a close run for the money on the comparison. I don't think you could go wrong with either.
They are fantastic bows, love the grip, and very quiet/fast etc....
and easy on the eyes, heres my Fatal Styk-

Matt, you always have the most incredible bows! I really appreciate everyone's feedback. That is what I love about this site... everyone's interest in helping brother and sisters in traditional archery. Looks like I may need to give one a try! Thanks again!
I shot and owned a ton of bows. The Robertson Fatal Styk I have now I will always have. It is my go to bow for anything. The grip fits perfect and consistent. Dick has it down and all the misses are built out of mine. My other bows are for entertainment and in the having. THEY DON'T get any better. They are all hand made by Dick or Yote his son and PH (guide) not buy machines like some of the recurves that so many shooter's claim to be the best. That statement is going to ruffle some feathers.

Jeff, that is quite an endorsement! I have been spending time on his website and they really are nice looking. I do like the shape of the grip (have yet to hold one).
Shawn, that is a beauty!! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Once you pick one up and shoot it you won't put it down. There is a reason you don't find them for sale. He builds the best and has been making a living at it for I believe 35 Years.

Jeff, very nice. I like the wood combinations!
Truly a master bowyer, Dick is one of the old bowyers that helped to bring trad. archery back to life.
I bought my first Robertson bow back around 1988. Gene (Wensel) suggested I give Dick a call. He sold me a Prairie Falcon TD recurve, which I still have...still hunt (and kill) with...and it's as solid and pretty a hunting bow as anything made today. You can trust Dick Robertson and family to treat you honestly and build you a lifetime bow.

I have owned many Robertson bows and they were all great. Beautiful and well made with great attention to detail. But I think the real bonus is the Robertson's themselves. Dick and his wife are just the greatest. very knowledgable and incredibly helpful.
