Anyone have a Howard Hill Takedown? do they make any noise when you shoot? Are they solid? any problems? are you satisfied with them?
thanks
Never heard a bad word about their quality. Order with confidence. Craig and Jason are top notch and make a great bow!
I have a 62", 85lb Wesley Special that is a takedown. It's well made and shoots well. They offer two handle sizes, small and large - I had to get the large for 85lbs, but both handle sizes feel good to me. No noise, tight fit, and bullet proof.
I own three HH take downs, along with a couple one piece Hill's. Craig's take down bows are solid as a rock. No slippage what-so-ever. They only come in straight grips, either large or small, but there is very little difference in size. My Hill TD bows are:
64", 53@28" "Red Man" with extra Lam of yew; small TD grip; Ebony riser and tip overlays; sterling silver white tail deer on riser
66", 56@28" "Cheetah"; large TD grip; Cocobolo riser and tip overlays
68", 50@28" "Half Breed"; small TD grip; Cocobolo riser and tip overlays
The TD Hill is my personal preference. I really like the extra mass provided by the TD sleeve. In my mind it adds to the stability of the bow. I've had several people shoot these bows and they were all surprised to learn that they were take downs after there shooting session.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Craig is a great guy to work with and he will not steer you wrong.
Do the handles feel similar to the one piece bows, or are they more rounded?
I have 3 HHA td's small grip which I prefer. The grips are more rounded than the standard grip. I have had no issues with the td system.
Thanks that gives me a lot of confidence in ordering.
Excellent choice. I have an Owl TD from Craig. No noise at all, and solid. That is a time tested TD sleeve. The grip is more rounded than the normal one piece grip.
Love my HH Cheetah t/d. It feels no different than my non t/d Hills, although it has to weigh a slight bit more. You won't be sorry if you get one.
