SWEET!
I have to admit I'm starting to get the itch as well, been shooting broadheads and climbing the tree at least once a week to put myself in the right frame of mind! This year I'll be going after them with a Hill Country Wildcat - 50# @ 30" - 150 grn VPA up front.
(http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo29/agtex42/_DSC7570.jpg) (http://s358.photobucket.com/user/agtex42/media/_DSC7570.jpg.html)
That's a sweet looking bow! Should get the job done if it presents itself. Good luck!
My main set up will be a 60" PSR Black Widow 51 at 28" drawn to around 30". My arrows will be Heritage 150's with a 175 gr. Woodsman elite on the business end.
I have a Centaur that will see a little woods time this year also. Not sure on the arrows for this bow yet.

Good thread! As for myself ill be using my Osage Custom longbow ( maker unknown ) that I won on the St. Judes auction 69" 69 lbs @ 28, with lodgpole pine shafts and Hill broadheads.
Since it has no makers marks ive named it " Childs Play " in honor of the kids.
I will be shooting my Bezaleel Bowworks Real McCoy 3 piece longbow 54 @ 28 drawn to 29. CE Heritage 250 arrows with original Wensel Woodsmans.
I will be shooting one of my bows with some good arrows...every time I think I have decided what to hunt with I change my mind...I am shooting a number of my bows well
My plans are to use:
Jack Kempf 56" Kwyk Styk 52#@28" (my dl is 27").
30" CE Heritage 250's
1 1/4" VPA Terminators (250 gr)
BW tab
GN quiver
Same as always..... Morrison cheyenne, 62" 63@31, beeman mfx 340s & some type of 200gn broadhead. Always works, no reason to switch!
Well... someone in their infinite wisdom threw out a perfectly good vintage Bear Kodiak Magnum :scared: their garbage is my new treasure and after shooting it tonight for a while I'm really digging this bow and think I might make it part of my hunting rig this year
Love those old Hunters, mine was a 45#er too.
Probably same as last season for me, 64" Kohannah Kurve, around 57# at my draw. Some kinda woodies, old and new...

Maybe an old Pearson Cougar if I can get it all refinished by then. With wood also...

Hoping to maybe get another old Bear to shoot with these now that Jon Stewart gave me some old Razorheads for them...(thanks again, dude!)

Looking forward to time chasing deer and occasional smaller furry or feathered creatures, no matter what set-up I'm toting along.
I might change out that Kanati as it is heavy on my bow. Would rather use a 3 arrow EFA! Hint Hint! :D
BTW, moleman, that's a kick-butt name for that bow!
The same bow that I shot my bear with this spring, a Wild Horse Creek Quest longbow.
53# @ 28" 62" mild r/d. POC arrows fletched with Magnus processed feathers from my turkeys, tipped with VPA 160 gr. 3 blades.
zipper sxt 50@27. gt trad 3555's cut to 29 with 50 grain brass and 125 grain magnus stingers or snuffers. damascus glove.
62 in pronhorn, 54 @ my draw, cedars with ribteks
Dorado riser with long Win&Win carbon foam limbs pulling 58.5@31". Arrows are GT Trad 7595 with big, sharp, pointy things on the business end.

I like those big sharp pointy things! :scared:
I'll be using one of the bows I made 57#@28. Carbon express heritage 250's with some of the broadheads I made. They are around 230 grains.
(http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg616/ipe20/DSCF3952.jpg) (http://s1246.photobucket.com/user/ipe20/media/DSCF3952.jpg.html)

Ha pay no attention to the date on the picture. As much as the batteries die in my camera and I have to change them so much that I never bother with setting the date..lol I didn't see it until I posted it..Oh well
Gonna be shooting my 68" Great Northern Traditional 46#@28" and some Surewood shafts, we are getting along well!!! (http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj633/darinputman/IMG_20130620_172139.jpg) (http://s1271.photobucket.com/user/darinputman/media/IMG_20130620_172139.jpg.html)
I was told my Blacktail VL will be done in August! it will be 62" 60#@28 if it is not done in time for me to get comfy before the season starts ill be using a Brack Drifter 64" 62@28. Arrows will be Doug Fir made by TK with 125 woodsmen elites.
Primary setup will be the 47# Bama Hunter with a strap on Selway 4 arrow quiver. The arrows for this are 30" tapered Fir. On the business end will be Zwickey Eskimos.
Secondary setup is a 50# Quinn Longhorn Classic T/D recurve. The quiver is a homemade 4 arrow screw in type. I couldn't find a quiver I liked on this bow so I made this one. I'll work on getting a photo. The arrows are 2016 Gamegetters cut to 30", tipped with 125 gr Stingers.
Counting the days!
47# Super D, but this year it will sling some woodies I got from the St. Jude auction .... at least I am hoping. Haven't tried them with a BH yet.
1. Bigfoot Sasquatch, 63# at 29 ins.
2. Eaglewing Static Recurve, 60 # at 29 ins.
3. ******** Traditional , BBF carbon extreme limbs, 63# at 29 ins.
4. 2219 classic arrows with 175 WW broadheads.
5. Big Jim bow quiver.
It's always hard for me to choose because by the time hunting season starts I've usually made at least a handful of new bows.
Both bows will be shooting their own set of Surewood Doug Fir, probably finished around 500grains with something sharp in 160ish grain ... probably gonna go simmons or tusker or magnus ... undecided
This year I'm gonna be between a 58" 44#@26" R/D wooden flatbow shown below.
(http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc450/Benjaminklein/P1110092.jpg) (http://s1212.photobucket.com/user/Benjaminklein/media/P1110092.jpg.html)

and a 62-64" all wood recurve, that I'm re-finishing up as we speak with a new set of limbs. Hoping for 45-50#@26". With stabilizer, bolt on kwikee kwiver, and elevated rest.
(http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc450/Benjaminklein/photo-110.jpg) (http://s1212.photobucket.com/user/Benjaminklein/media/photo-110.jpg.html)
One of my two Toelke Chinooks, both are 58" and 51@28, I draw about 29". Both are set up with 5 arrow Thunderhorn small fry lynx quivers. Arrows will be 30" Surewood Douglas Fir, 80-85s, with a still undecided 145gr. Broadhead. Arrows come in about 665 gr. And leave my bows about 150 fps.

The same as I use every year!!!
My 47# 1967 Bear Grizzly, Easton "Autumn Orange" 2016s, tipped with old green Bear Razorheads!!!
Primary will be my new Schafer Silvertip recurve, gaboon ebony with B&W ebony flare and B&W ebony vaneers with copperheads on the back, smooth sheep horn tips, 58", 55#@28" I named it "NAKOHE" in by late twins honor.
Secondary will be my Cari-Bow Silver Fox longbow.B&W ebony with gaboon ebony flare and B&W ebony vaneers, 62", 52#@28", it is named "Hopeless" cause I am a hopeless bowaholic,LOL.
Hope to kill something with both on my trip to Texas in December.
It will probably be my 62 inch, 55# @ 28, Silvertip longbow until late season and then I will switch to a 51 @ 28 Silvertip recurve or 50# @ 28 Black Canyon recurve.
Out of the longbow I will be shooting Surewoods with 160 VPAs or 2018s with 175 grain VPAs. Out of the recurves I will be shooting Axis Traditional 500s with 50 grain inserts and 200 grain VPAs.
D.P.
My set up is a 68 " JD Berry Vixen @ 51#s, Gold Tip 33/55s tipped with 160 grain Simmons Land Sharks.
Wow, you guys are way ahead of me, just getting started mounting broadheads to different shafts for different bows - something in my signature but not sure what yet. Just because I start with one bow doesn't mean I won't switch during the season.
For the first time in 19 years  I will be going in the woods with a recurve instead of a longbow. I won this Bob Lee Recurve on the St. Judes Auction.
58" -55# @ 28". GT 3555's with 150gr. Woodsman's.

I'm out with my 66" Toelke Whip "Majick" at about 57lbs for 29 inches, Surewood shafts, probably the Catquiver 6.5, but haven't yet decided on a broadhead. My arrows fly best with 100gr on the tip, and I'm after mulies, so any thoughts for this, guys?
Some good looking and great sounding setups! Good luck to everyone this year. Be safe and shoot straight!
Those of you with ST Jude equipment, you got some Mojo heading to the woods with you! :clapper:
Bear Custom T.D., 72# @ 27", Rose City Cedars tipped with glue on Bear Razorheads.
50# BW PL longbow, cedar shaft and 135 gr Magnus 2 blade.
I will be useing my Assenheimer recurve, woodies tipped with Ace 130's in a Great Northern quiver. For bear and deer.
Holm-Made River Runner.....60" 46# @ 29" 2117 with 200gr up front. Back up.....RER Vortex 64" 46# @ 29" with the same arrows. Both one piece with black glass.
I will be using my HH Wesley 66in. 55lb.at 28in. 550gr. ash arrows with simmons-tigersharks......
Ron, I was hoping you were going to hunt with that Vortex. I wanted that bow so bad, it wasn't even funny. :D Would love to hear you tagged a whitetail with it. Good luck to you this season.
This thread needs more pictures :)
Identical ACS CX bows 64" and 50# @ 28. 650 gn Fir arrows.
QuoteThis thread needs more pictures [Smile]
I couldn't agree more! That's why I started it, too see what folks were going to hunt with. :D
Wannabe1....nobody wants to score more than me...it's been a long road!
I challenged enough that I can't post pics (yet), but my set up is a Blk Widow 66" PLIII 53#@28 with CE Heritage 250's tipped with 175 gr Simmons Tiger Sharks....

As requested , here is a pic. of my gear for the year which I won on the St. Judes auction, 69" 69 LB all Osage Hill style longbow. This combined with Lodgepole pine shafts and Hill heads should get it done nicely ( if the deer cooperate that is ) :biglaugh: .
Good looking bow! Love how that Osage darkened up like that.
I'll be using my new 66" Abbott longbow, 47#, 1916 Legacy's, Zwickey Eskimo, leather back quiver.
Those Abbotts are some real sweet shooters!
I have a new Robertson to play with this fall. Dick and Yote made a beutiful tribalstyk for me. Its 61# at my draw and I am working on footing some surewoods with wenge for for arrows.

It's hunting season year-round in Fl.(for hogs and many small game species).
Ah, Moleman, you have my bow.
Nice to see she will be hunting this year. I did a swap with another TG'er earlier in the year, and i noticed he put it on St. Jude's.
I would have gladly bought her back, but if they aren't takedowns, i don't use them.
There are a lot of journeys on that bow, and she has seen some country, and is the most stable and forgiving bow i've ever owned
Enjoy.
d.
My main set up will be a Northern Mist Ottawa 53@28 shooting cedars tipped with 160grn Ace 2 blade.
Those Ottawa's are real good looking bows... I'd like to try one of those at some point!
I will be using a r/d 62in 46lb longbow that my son just msde for me, cedar shafts with Ace broadhead.
My main rig will be my Selway "Lil Magnum" 54# @28" shooting axis 400s tipped with either centaur battle axes, snuffers, or 200gr muzzy phantoms. Unless I get my Doug fir from Snag in time then I might be running them
Second setup is my Palmer Carbon 51@28 ill pry shoot 2117s with abowyer boneheads or bear greenies.
Both setups shoot any of my arrows great just a matter of picking up a bow grab some arrows and hit the woods!
Any others?
This year I have chosen my Lone Wolf " Autumn Storm ". 52@28 shooting traditional only 400 with Zwickey Eskimo 160 on business end. Will try to post a pic because this bow is a beauty.
I'll have 5 different set ups. Wood arrows for all.

I will use a Take down Big River 59 Replica in Missouri this year. 53 lbs at 28. 60 Inches long. I think I will make up some carbons probably 35-55 and want to use some Magnus 3 blade heads given to me by my Friend Manny. but also wouldn't mind finding some big 2 blade magnus as well.

Arwin: That bow definitely has earned its place as a provider! Congrats and good luck with it this season.
Wasn't expecting to take this longbow in the woods much, but after a lot of shooting, pretty sure it is going to replace my recurve. Adjusted the quiver a good bit, added a nice Lefties string, and still working on arrows and the business end (arrows too stiff and getting too heavy!)

The old Kodiak looks FANTASTIC Brother!!!!!
What did you use as a finish?????
I will use my Bob Lee Hunter Takedown when hunting from a tree stand and I will use my Black Widow PSA X when hunting on the ground. My arrows are 2016 XX75's tipped with Muzzy Phantoms.
I am shooting my Sarrels Blueridge 60" 48@28" this summer and fall. Photos not cooperating.
My refinished Shulz Trophy Hunter. 69" lefty 56@30. I'll be shooting GT Blems with either 160 grn Ace or 125 Grn Grizzly's with adapters to a total weight of 225grn. I'm carrying them in a newly acquired GN strap on quiver.
I will be hunting my Northern Mist Baraga...named "Big Green". It is the only bow I have ever owned that I was compelled to name. I have only had this bow since late spring, but I am shooting it better than I have ever shot before. 60#'s @ 28", 62" long. Most likely, my arrows will be Axis 500's, with 3 yellow BIG 5 1/2" high back parabolic feathers, and a Tuff Head up front.

Rob, that is one sweet looking setup! I have tossed around the desire for one of those Longwalkers for a while now. Need to pull the trigger one day and just get one. :D
Same setup as last year except I may use a 4-blade broadhead this year.
My specs are in my signature at the bottom of post:

Thanks man! Same goes for you too, bro. :campfire: :)
Hopefully, two new Dryad Orions will be destined for western KY next week. Would anticipate that I will become quite familiar with these two before attempting to develop a lethal set-up.
Can only speculate, however, I envision utilizing a Victory HV 350 in conjunction with a 300 gn VPA.
Most likely the 66" Mohawk Sparrowhawk I picked up this Spring....with some doug fir shafts tipped with 190 Ribteks fletched with natural turkey fletching.
My backup will be my Robertson Vision Falcon this year with doug fir shafts and 190 Ribteks or 200 Grizzly Kodiaks.
first time out with this one. predator 48# @ 28 30 inch leg. 2020 175 2 or 4 blade
2nd, old reliable hawkeye 60# at 28 29 inch ceders footed with walnut tipped with snuffers or battle axes
dink, lets see some pics of your Predator if ya got 'em. :D
Stalker Stickbow Coyote longbow 60" 44# @ 28"
Gold Tip Trad 500 30" 2 fletch arrows
Magnus Stinger 150gr 4 blade broadheads
I'm looking at the limb bolt mounted 3 arrow quiver from Eagles Flight Archery to tie it all together.
sorry guys never learned how to post pics, its nothing fancy now my silver fox is but have yet to brake it in next year maybe if i can get away from my recurves
49# Cari-Bow Slynx with Doug fir shafts.Grizzly Kodiaks on my moose hunt and Woodsmans on whitetails.
Gonna have to be my Miller Expedition 55@26, HHA back quiver and 55-60 cedars tipped with 160 gr Magnus broad heads.
This is a new bow and I can't wait to get it into the woods!

A little early for me but Im definitely leaning towards my Thunderstick III. 54@30 and some GT 55/75s with brass inserts and original Bear Razorheads.
It's going to be my new Whip H.S. and the quiver that I got from Wannabe1 to start the season off. (http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx186/longbow69/DSC07083_zpscc3454d1.jpg) (http://s754.photobucket.com/user/longbow69/media/DSC07083_zpscc3454d1.jpg.html)

For my second year of trad, still in search of my first trad kill, I will again be using my Holm-Made River Runner...60" 48#@28" - Bocote. Woodsman Elite 175 up front (you've seen the pics of what it can do to a bare foot, so I will spare you this time) :biglaugh:

As for the actual shaft.....that depends on what I have left in the quiver come opening day! Between breaking an losing, this "skill development time" is getting costly!
Kingsnake
Hey awbowman,
Isn't that a pic of a classic Whip not the Super D?
Plan on opening with RWH for starters, then a Fred Bear signed Tigercat, mixing in an A Mag and a green striped Kodiak TD. Depends on blind/tree stand choice and deer/turkey. Less than two months away!
Just finish this one up. 62" 55# hope to get to try her out. Going to use Mfx 400s with 4- blade Interseptors up front. (http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k592/jet26photos/602fcb1f-a8fd-464b-97c4-046b1990a0be.jpg)
That bow looks awesome Mike! If it shoots like the one I shot when I met you then its going to be great! P.s. don't forget about me!
Thanks Logan. Its just like the one you shot but with a longer riser. She seems pretty fast and very quiet. Don't worry I haven't forgot about ya.
Holy crap, that is the finest looking recurve I've ever seen! Wow, I hope she tags a good one for ya!!
For now I'm using my Acadian Woods TD but if I can get the minor repair done to my "new-to-me" Acadian Woods 1-piece recurve in time, I'll use it.
I'll add pictures this eve.

Am still in the process of setting up two Dryad ACS RC's....one is 60"s and the other is 62"s....both are 52@28.

This is a no-namer I bought off another member this month for practically nothing because of the poundage. Not sure who made it. He didn't know either. It's 75# at 28" and my heaviest bow by far. I just got into heavier bows about a month back and am pulling it great.
The arrows are Heritage 250s with Vintage Archery 150g inserts and 145g Eclipse heads. Arrows come out at 725g with tubes.
The quiver is one of my Dad's (Ripforce) homemade Birchbark Rovers. A special one he made for me.
I'll probably start my season with my CostalBend Longbow. Pulls just under 70 at my draw shooting some blems with 100gr inserts and 200grain VPA 3 blades or Tusker Aztecs.

Then there is always my old Martin Mamba just under 60lbs at my draw I'll be shooting some Kustom King pre-finished wood shafts from her this year and No Mercy Zwickeys out of her.

Nope a Super D. I think Dan modifies the riser a little for short draw guys like me. The bow is also strung in the picture.

Gonna stick with the dead eye Zipper, CE 150's and Grizzly tips. Hard to fight perfect performance and confidence!

Great looking bow Mike, I would like to give one a go someday. Took a few off my bucket list at Denton.
Never seems to be enough time when it comes to bows. I never wanted to be a collector. My search has always been hunting related. With that being said there is always a couple bows that catch my attention.
Travel cost, license fees, hunting fees ect. I would rather hunt than collect and stay home.

Wow, that is a beautiful Widow! Love the dark color.
No pics. but I will be shooting my Caribow Tuktu EX 54#s at my draw. I am shooting Heritage 150's cut to 29.5"s with a 175 grain VPA 3 blade, they will be in my Thunderhorn strap on or my Kanati quiver. We open Oct. 1st. which I hate. Too early as far as I am concerned but I will hunt a few days but won't get serious until Halloween! Shawn
Oh, my back up will be my Belcher riser with a set of Hex-6Hs from Border. 52#s at my draw and the same arrows as above! Shawn
