I would have made...this is one of the targets at this years Compton rendezvous

:biglaugh:
We had a similar target at our annual shoot. It was a barrel suspended by a rope on each end, no saddle.
Lucky for me the target was a full sized bison :jumper:
Lookin' good, Roger! :jumper:
I'd have trouble climbing up on her. :biglaugh:
Getting up wasn't so bad.....getting down would have been worth a video....
Looking good Roger!
I would have asked for a bigger saddle and a shorter horse....lol
God bless,Mudd

It helps to practice on the real thing before you ride one of them barrel horses Roger... :D

I'd say that needs to be your new avatar... :clapper:
I think I'd need a shorter barrel so I wouldn't pull a groin muscle. Also stirrups would be nice !!
Glenn
Not many horses would like a twang in thier ears. They should make tha a 30 degree off center shot. If not they should buck you off. Just funnin
I went to one where the barrel was on ropes so it moved when you moved. I love those novelty shots
That sucker burnt my legs last year! Ouch!
I don't know why anybody would try to shoot their bow off a horse that doesn't even have a head
Actually, that's my kind of horse, pretty low maintenance.
I second the new avatar pic for you.
Nice form, I mean technique, I mean style buddy.
Ron, that's a nice picture of you on the horse. I see you're carrying your double 'barrelled' bow scabbard in case you run into some roughyin's.
Its a good thing you picked up your new Horse bow from Steve that weekend eh Roger?
The McAlester shoot had one like that but it also wobbled while you sat on it.
A muzzleloader club I shot at had one that was mounted on a big coil spring.
That was interesting...
I'm sure we could find a horse owner or 2 in WY that would let us borrow a couple for a week. LOL
I have always liked when shoots try to be different then the rest. It adds fun to the challenge.
We used a large log once for a mount from which to shoot a toughman target. By changing the direction of the target you can easily vary the difficulty of it. For a right hand shooter, a target directly in front of the horse, or slightly to the right of the horse becomes difficult.
Eventually someone is going to set up a range where you shoot at an animal target, and then after pulling arrows, mount that target to shoot the next target. The whole range could be shot from "horse back". Obviously it would require large durable targets.
I think that Roger and Ron both have found new avatars.

Steve shipped "Big Green" out a few weeks prior. Honestly though, I see why the Plains Indians had the short horse bows. If they had Shrew bows back then, we would all be speaking Sioux. :bigsmyl:

translation... I love you man
Funny!
Is that what they ment by an iron horse?
That saddle IS a bit small. We'd all be walking funny after that shot.

Is that Sioux for "Fluffy Bunny Feet"?
That is an awesome picture Ron. You sure do live the dream.

That was an elk hunt trip that John Lee and I made to Colorado some years back. I took two osage self bows, "Bodacious" which was 83#@26" and "Bo Derick", 81#@26" had a pencil size hole through her riser under the handle .. ... :D
At least it aint movin. lol
I need to get me a set of buckskins....I really do!
I couldn't do that with my metal hips...but I sure imagine it was a challenging shot!
Next time wear your chaps

We had a similar set up at a local shoot but the barrel was suspended with ropes and you had to shoot a little solid fiberglass but but with the arrows you brought with you. Made it real challenging.
On shots like that, I don't even worry about hitting the target. I just feel great if I don't fall off. No, I don't ride horse - saddle leather and my butt just make a bad combination.

Yup.
