Awesome news Chuck. This time of year is awesome, we all get to find out what we will be doing in the fall. I'm looking forward ro seeing the bow made for the hunt.

Good for you Chuck.
You could use some time in the woods.
You have been putting in some long hours the last few months.
George
I must have sensed it...I had taken a hunk of bear meat out of the freezer this morning. Scott "Stool Man" from HuntMore have me a great new marinade recipe at Compton. 20 minutes in the vacuum sealer and bingo ;)
Saved the last bite for you to look forward to Chuck!

Drop me a line, I can tell you a bunch of mistakes I made, it might help you out.
Good job. Don't know Baraga but I know a really good spot in Amasa (which I would have let you in on). Last time I hunted it I saw four different Bears on opening night. I should draw next year with 6 points after this year. My son wanted to go this year but I wasn't into it quite yet. The spot is near my dads old house.
Congrats buddy!

Good luck Chuck...I have lots of points but just never given it serious consideration so I'll be interested to hear about your hunting experience.
Congrats and good luck!!
Just a point for me. Congrats to you and good luck.
Hey Thanks all.
This will be very fun and adventurous. This is one of the best bear tags for Michigan, and I am really pumped. Some phone calls have been made and information gathering has begun.
Steve O is next on my hit list for Bear hunting advice AND bear cooking recipes. :wavey:
Congratulations Chuck!
You will not regret getting bear cooking tips from Steve. After having one of the roasts he cooked up at deer camp a few years ago, he forever changed how I look at bear hunting. Even planning my first bear hunt for Manitoba next year.
I used to think of bears as giant raccoons. Now I look at them as giant raccoons that taste AWESOME.
oh I like me some Bear Mike. I have ate plenty of em. BUT! I am always willing to try new stuff and that little morsel that Steve posted looks mighty fine.
I will try and take care of the first point of business first. Getting that critter on the ground. Then we can cook him.
I need to have me a chitchat with SteveO real soon.
Congrats! I struck out again on a bear tag and an elk tag this year. Just whitetails for me again.
Good luck on your adventure!
Chuck, when you and Owlbait come for our stump shoot I will make us a bear roast.
Bear, fried taters ,salad, Red Arrow Club cake and dark beer.
Congratulations Chuck! You'll make the best of a great tag, I have no doubt!
Thanks again to you all.
My "Local Contact" will be returning from a missions trip to Alaska this weekend. I will be on the horn with him this week and set the wheels in motion fully.
So far I have,
Decided to grow my Beard starting now.
Going to have a natural ground blind and an
-elevated stand(at least one of each)
Started my "Mountain Man" work-out routine.
Now I need to decide what bow/arrow set up I need.
TreeDancer, that's sounds fine to me! YUM!
That's awesome Chuck! I can give you written permission to camp on my 25 acres in Elo for up to 90 days this calendar year (township limit for unimproved timber land) if a base camp would help ya.
Thom
Great News! Good luck on the hunt!

This has the makings of a great hunt and a story if you have time. Congrats on you draw.

Congrats, Chuck!!
My turn, LOL. Chuck, I hope you and Chris make it down here for February's Pre-Spring Arrow Fling.
If possible, I hope someone's taking photos of your hunt. Tony Kinton w/ Primitive Archer Magazine is doing a Saturday night slideshow of his African Hunting trip.
Friday night would certainly be open for a Bear Hunting slideshow from you my friend.
Terry Harris
CHuck congratulations,
Well deserved Chuck,Good luck.
Congrats on the draw....
Here`s to hoping for some magic for Chuck!
:campfire:
Congratulations Chuck on an awesome draw. Best wishes my friend!
How about a little update big fella. Time is getting close and I am going to have to live vicariously thru you this fall...
I figured you would be keeping me on task.
This is the quick and dirty,
I have not been able to get up to the BMG as of yet. My friend Brian has been setting things up for me for 2 weeks+ as of now. Some small hits and then some very good hits with BIG calling cards left by the bear. He texted me a picture of the sets but I can't get them on here.
My bow will be 49#@29" I am pulling it 30+
Arrows are AD Traditionals with a 185 Grizzly up front, total weight is 610gn. Back up bow is 52@30 with 640gn woodies and a big ACE head.
I will be pulling all of my gear together this weekend and I will try to post some "pre-hunt" pics here.
Thanks Steve,
CTT
Good luck on the hunt Chuck . We can't wait to see the success photos on you return.
