Ok,
Question. If you could only own two bows what style, weight etc. would you choose?
I have the opportunity to buy a second bow. I have a Whip classic that I shoot pretty well. My dilemma is do I buy another r/d in the same general weigh class? Do I purchase a recurve or stick with one style and stick with it. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. I would like to purchase another bow however : ).
Morrison ILF recurve. And a long bow. Right now I have a Don Dow longbow and on of Javaman's Inferno longbows. Mid 40 pounds draw weight.
I only own two now...a Morrison Arapaho recurve 54# @ 28 and a GreatPlains longbow 65# @ 28 they are perfect for now
I like recurves best and my two favorite are Blacktail and Silvertip.
I'd have a TD Blacktail and a one piece Silvertip.
Well don't you have two bows already? I see a Dalaa in your sig? If you love your Whip I highly recommend a Stewart Slammer or one of Chad Holm's longbows. You're certainly not missing anything just having a Whip. Dan Toelke makes a world class longbow that is as good or better than anything out there. Those couple I mentioned are all made with the pinnacle of craftsmanship. If you're willing to take a downgrade to more 'utilitarian' but not bad finish but also truly outstanding performance and stability, 21st Centurys are also worth a try. I recently saw past the bad net press from years past and the hunting grade finish and picked one up and wouldn't sell it for anything, it shoots that well.
My two choices would be my Slammer 3pc takedown and my 1pc 21st' Lonestar Carbon.
If I didn't have and love the Slammer, a Whip 2pc would be in my life. And in a 1pc, my alternative to the Lonestar in a much shorter package would be a Shrew. Shrews are an instinctive archer who loves a short bow's delight.
Blackwidow recurve and a wild horse creek longbow!
Well,
The DAS had to go. Long story, but fortunately I have the ability to add another bow to the collection. : ). Thanks for the advice!
If i could only have two bows they would be a 59 kodiak and a 59 kodiak special,do my wife and 6 kids and six grandkids get limited to two also?,lol.I think my dogs should each have two bows too.
A 45# Bear Grizzly, and a 55# Bear Grizzly...
1 light weight, and a heavier 1 just in case...
Or, 1 for everyday hunting, and 1 to put away for when I get "old".....
I think it is hard to beat the RER Arroyo for a recurve. I like the longbows I make better than any I have shot so far.58" curve at around 50#, 64" longbow at the same wt. works for me.
David
Going from bows I've owned, I'd say get a Kwyk Styk if you want a recurve.
If you want to stick with longbows, maybe a takedown Whip, Stalker or HC Bobcat.
If a one pc longbow is more like what you want, well then there is only 1 answer: MOAB
Dan Toelke's Classic Whip and JD Berry's Argos!
I would have to say the two HH bows in my signature. Nothing like them.
I am in the process now of going down to two bows, as soon as i get all my info and pictures down i will be posting in the classifieds. I recently picked up a used Habu Vyperkahn bocote longbow, and i am on the list for a blacktail, need i say more. So now, i am going down to two bows, what goes is my Dwyer, mojostick, Kota Prairie Swift, and maybe my Habu Bushmaster, and my Cascade brushawk, but my Brushawk is an amazing bow for blinds and a great shooter, so i may only get down to four bows, will see.
Grizzly Qarbon Nanos, one left and one right, which I own. The rest of my bows, as wonderful as they are, are not quite in the same league.
I don't need two, but if I had to, I would keep my 62" Super D (47#s@ 251/2") and add a 58" two piece Classic Whip (52#s @ 26").
My Dryad Orion and a Big Jim Thunderchild.
Easy question:
45 lbs Caribow Peregrine
45 lbs Whippenstick Phoenix
I'd own 2 Curves. One would be TT Titan ILF.
The 2nd...that's a lot tougher to choose because I'd want a great looking bow as well: Schafer, Habu, Sasquatch...
My Centaur's
58" Chimera 55 @ 27
56" Chimera 52 @ 26
Only 2 bows....are you kidding!!OK, most likely something by Chad Holm, and a take-down of some sort. Both would be 43-46# @ 29" and 62-64" long......Just 2 bows..??...LOL!
if i had to only have 2 bows
id keep my predator custom classic recurve 60 in 46#s @28 drawn to 30 in
and id keep my two tracks longwalker longbow 62 in 52#s @ 30
Kevin
Dale Dye Good Medicine one piece recurve 60" and 58#@28".
Neil Jacobsen Bear's Paw Carbon Hunter T/D longbow 62" and 60#@28.
Not only are these two men just plain "good" individuals, they have forgotten more about their craft than most will ever know.
Still say Neil Jacobsen is one of the top three or four bowhunters living. And his 3D prowess speaks for itself as well.
These are top shelf products made by men who first built the shelf.

Ha! You guys are great!
Sorry, can't make it to just two, but the one I would keep would be my two piece Whip HS.
A pronghorn and a Kota has to be in the mix.
Mike, I have only two bows. My first custom longbow was a Thunderstick Mag I bought years ago and still have. I just picked up a Whip HS and it is the closest I have found in accuracy, quietness, and smoothness compared to the Tstick. I love longbows, so staying with a longbow would be my thing, maybe a take-down model in the whip in case you needed it! But I do love the look of the superD as well, so that would be a tough choice. Fit/finish, I have owned a few and Toelke is at the top of the game!
I think I would stick with my Black Widow recurve and longbow. Sure am happy with the both of them!
Be a good idea if you have any interest in out of state hunts to check for a minimum draw weight.
But a lighter weight bow and something a bit heavier that would cover any out of state requirments for larger game you plan to hunt would be a good choice.
But since you asked.....
Great Northern jacknifed bushbow for both of them, one in the 40# range and the other in the mid 50# range :)
I would keep my black widow ptf and my Foley . for me they are graet shooters .
I'd keep my 17" Titan riser w/Dryad Epic recurve limbs & my Zebra longbow
Two? I can barely stick to only shooting two in a weekend!!!
Right now really liking:
Habu vyperkahn
Eagle wing talon
Bigfoot Sasquatch
But also playing with:
Silvertip
Centaur
Hill country bobcat
Two - right??????
Tough to only have 2...
Today would be my BW recurve and my Wild Horse Creek 2 pc longbow. Tomorrow would be my Morrison ILF and my Caribow. The day after would be my Allegheny Mtn Recurve and my Roy Hall 2 pc longbow...
from bows I have owned or still own...as they are the ones I know intimately...
Habu, 60@29 Bushmaster...64" (currently own)
Mohawk Sparrow Hawk, 50@28.....66" (currently own but if I did not have it would have the Robertson Stykbow Purist longbow in 66/68" length....53-55#@28 inch weight based on the mohawk)
If I could only own two traditional bows (which I do), they would be identical Robertson longbows. Everything else has hit the road, or the trash.
Cari-bow Silver Fox and Voodoo Elk Riser Longbow. Both 3 piece take downs.
I have 5 other backups for "Moody" days.
A Toelke Whip and a.....?
So far I have landed with a 62" HS and a 64". I plan on keeping both. I have a new Super D coming that I plan on becoming very familiar with.
If I could only own two bow............I'd have a lot more money!
Centaur
Zipper
No brainer for me...my right handed RER LXR with a set of static recurve and a set of longbow limbs at about 60 pounds at my draw...and my left handed Robertson Fatal Styk with the set of recurve limbs I bought it with and a set of longbow limbs that I have yet to purchase again at about 60 pounds...and I know that is technically 4 different bows, but since I am never only gonna have as few as 4 bows the point is moot anyway
DDave
I've got two now and plan to stay that way. Both 58" Toelke Chinooks, both 51@28, one's a one piece and the other is a two piece. Both set up with the same quiver and currently getting them set up with arrows. I found what I like and also have a backup!
A whip is the the only bow I will always keep. I like to shoot others as well but they are just mistresses.
I only own one and I see no reason to get another. It's a 57#@28" 62" longbow made by Jim Curlee.
Two recurves- 62" Dale Dye 47# at 28" and a 60" Silvertip 48# at 28"
A longbow and a recurve, because I like em both. :goldtooth:
If I could only have two it would probably be an "A" riser Bear T/D and a hybrid style longbow by Brandon Stahl or Black Widow.
...it would be my John Schulz Tembo :goldtooth:
Would personally select two different bows that present uniquely different, yet fulfilling experiences.
Each would share the same characteristics:
Stable grip
Forgiving design
....Fluent draw cycle
Presents the feeling of stored power
Soothing bow reaction of the bow at the shot
Comfortably permit the euphoric feeling of the thrust of the shot
A bow of which my accuracy is optimized
Excellent craftsmanship and robust design
Outstanding customer service
Delivers the complete shot experience that drives my passion
I have only 2 trad bows now, both recurves.
If I could keep ONE it would be my Samick Sage take-down. Easy to transport, made well and paid for.
Any Silvertip's or Jack Kempf's!!
Impossible for me to reply...too many exceptional bowyers these days
2 bows :scared: :scared: :scared:
Never gonna happen,LOL. 4 Silvertip recurves and 2 Cari-bow longbows on the rack with 1 Huntsman recurve on order and 1 Brackenbury Peerless on order.
I would have kept the DAS! 2nd would be a Brackenbury but who has 2 years to wait on one.
Look Below
A recurve and a hybrid longbow. I am happy with the ones I have now but would like to try several other 50's style curves and a few hybrid longbows. My problem with multiple bows is sticking to only one in deer season. I don't like swapping out, but I enjoy shooting them all.
But which would you have if you could only have one? :)
TG
Osage selfbow, straight, 64" ntn, 65# @ 28".
Bamboo/osage/osage tri-lam, d/r, 58" ntn, 60# @ 28".
Made by yours truly.... already :)
two silver tips .
My 2 Kanati's.
I don't like these doomsday scenarios.
My 59' Kodiak repro...which is super sexy and FAST...and a Super Shrew or Mcullough Griffin....that'll do it......today...lol...jackdaw
It took four pages of responses before I could even open this thread, I shudder at the thought!
Two bows is NOT going to happen with me.
My Selway is a hybrid 60" 54# @28" to my draw is closer to 60#, which over the years has become an extension of my arm and the 62" silvertip I have on order with camo limbs always wanted one since I saw Barry toting his in October whitetails 2 finally getting it! Cannot wait!
Morrison Shawnee or ILF.
Great stuff!
It would be the two Pronghorn Longbows I own right now Red is 62" 52@28 and LG is 62" 51@28.
You might consider a three-piece takedown longbow that has a little heavier riser mass -- one that draws smooth as butter. My two favorite: Leon Stewart Slammer and EagleWing longbow. Both bowyers are a pleasure to work with.
Look down this is what I own. LOL. God bless.
I own two; they are two identical A&H ACS CX 64", 50#. The woods are different. I have lotsa' other bows too but they just hang out on the rack.
a Pete George Timberline longbow,66" 60-65#
And
A recurve, just so I remember why I like American semi longbows so much. :p
I'd also like to have super power,be able to fly and have x-ray vision, because the odds of me getting those or only owning 2 bows are about the same!!!!
:biglaugh:
They are in my sig. One @ 60"45# the other 62"55#.
You are pretty deadly with those widows Pete.
You may want to try something down right sexy looking like a "Yeti" or a "Sasquatch SS" bro....

Certainly one of my Hill bows - a toss up between my Wesley Special and my Cheetah. I could easily be satisfied making these my two choices. But another strong consideration would be a Northern Mist Shelton. I have never owned one of Steve's bows. but I have shot them several times and like his stuff a lot.
