Title: arrow advice
Post by: vernon on June 19, 2013, 01:51:00 PM
Hey all I'm looking for an axis arrow combo that would fly out of my 51# and #54 bows.  I'm currently shooting axis 400 cut at 29 1/2 with 100 grain insert and 150 BH.  They fly great out of heavier bow and still tuning with the lighter one but sure I can get them to fly true.  However, anyone else have any ideas for a heavy arrow weight/BH combo that might work.  I would prefer axis but open to anything.  I mainly hunt deer/elk and one day, I pray, moose:) I like what I'm shooting now but would like to try and add little more weight-maybe.

thanks

Two seasons ago I used Axis 400 cut to 30" with a 75gr insert and a 200gr Woodsman Elite with my Hoyt Dorado drawn to 29.5". At that drawlength it was about 55lbs. I got perfect arrow flight and a complete pass through on a buck. I think what you have now is ok or maybe slightly stiff. Try a 200-250gr point.

thanks for the info!!  I was thinking of messing with some point weight, especially for the 51#.  Thanks again!
