Post by: TxAg on June 18, 2013, 09:47:00 PM
Anyone notice whistling or hissing because of the vents?

The Ace Standards I have (125 grain) are a cinch to sharpen and very tough. In fact, they have been the easiest head ever for me to sharpen.  I may be able to make my hunting weight using the 175 but I'm generally not a fan of vented heads. The 165 Ace Express may end up being the ticket.

Not anything I would consider a deal breaker. Raptor cut fletch is louder.

My experience is they make no sound in flight.

I use the Big Ace heads and the 165 is my choice. It has a straight edge and that's what I like. I never noticed a hiss with the vented head.
I also notice that all the Ace heads mounts and sharpen well and are very tuff.
I just picked up a couple new packs of the Hex Blunts as well as worked a trade for some others. Stumps beware!

All I shoot is the Ace Super Express heads. I've killed a lot of game with them and never noticed a hiss while shooting.

The 200gr Super Express has been my favorite head for years. I've shot the 175 gr vented head and never had a noise problem....    "[dntthnk]"

Probably just go with the 200s. A little extra weight won't hurt

I have noticed that some of the larger vented broadheads do whistle out of the really quick bows but don't out of the average speed bows.
