Title: New Centaur Chimera
Post by: ssoden on June 18, 2013, 10:20:00 AM
I wanted to share the wonderful piece of working art that I received from Jim a few months ago. Fits like a glove, shoots like no other and the workmanship is spotless. THANKS JIM!! 60" 53@30 Colobolo handle with Yew overlays, Yew limbs XTL with skins, Elk tips.

It's a very cloudy day ... so the colors just don't show well in the pictures. The colors of the bow is very rich in color.

I draw 30.5 ... shoot GT 55/75 cut to 30.5 with a 1" footing, standard insert, 260 gr Battle Axe w/steel insert.  I have a 1 inch thick rubber cow mate behind my target and at 20 yds the head comes out the back side .. hits hard!

Steve,

Have you ever shot a WI deer with your Battle Axes?

I have the Big Game heads and am tuning them in  to a particular arrow right now for this fall.  They are LW, single bevel.  Unfortunately I do hear a hiss coming from the BH on their way to the target.

I do not hear a similar sound from my Simmon's Tree Sharks.  I can't explain that.  Anyone else with a similar experience?

Kris

Kris,

First year with the Battle Axe head .. however I've use the Big Game heads a few seasons. I've taken 4 whitetials and 1 Elk with the Big Game ... all had great penetration and very good blood trails. As far as the hiss .. I don't hear the Big Games But i do hear a slight hiss with the Battle Axe. Really not worried about it ..
