I just picked up a new Bear Grizzly at a great price. It is 45 @ 28, but my draw is about 27. The factory string is not the best (TIGHT nock fit) so I'm going to order a new one. I'm looking for some arrow suggestions. I shoot 35/55 gold tips with brass inserts and 125 grain head out of my mojostik. These arrows don't fly well out of the Grizzly (tight nock fit could contribute to this). I have a dozen easton gamegetter 500s that are full length. I'm thinking of adding some 100 grain inserts to these to try. Any suggestions?
Order u an SBD string and bare shaft from there. U should be able to tune those carbons right.
SBD 6-8 strand all the way.
Tight nocks can definitely cause bad arrow flight. If you have someone close who makes strings, maybe it could be re-served with a smaller diameter serving thread.
You're gonna need a heavy tip for those 35/55s. I shoot 15/35s w/125gr points out of a 43@28 Grizzly and the fly rather well but do need some fine tuning.
Start with a 175gr point and go up from there if you have heavier points.
How long of an arrow are you shooting?
A regular Grizzly (not the new Super Grizzly) is not a reinforced limb tip bow. It is recommended to shoot only dacron strings on it.....B50 or B55.
As far as arrows go, my brother is shooting my 1974 Grizzly, which is very similar to your new one. It is a 45# @ 28" bow, and he draws it 27".
Beman Centershot arrows in .500 spine cut to 30" with aluminum inserts and 145 grain tips fly like darts out of it.
They come with a dacron string and say nothing about using a FF type string on that model.I would stick with the Dacron. Some of the other new Bears have reinforced tips for FF type strings.
reserve with smaller serving & shoot 1916 aluminums, works for me.
