For many of you this will seem to be a no brainer. We all know that broad head alignment is critical for good flight. What I discovered is that field point alignment can be equally important. I have been having problems lately with fliers. Shots way outside of the group, particularly at distances beyond 40yds. Yesterday I decided to fix arrows. Replace knocks, feathers, and beat up points. I did maintenance on arrows for 4 people[wife,son,neighbors kid, and me] After I had everyone's shafts fixed I started looking at mine. I shoot 50gr. and 100gr. brass inserts a lot of my setups use 250gr. tips. When I started looking closely at the fronts it seemed as if the last inch or so of some of the shafts were not straight. The more I looked the worse they looked. Long story, bottom line 5 of the 100gr. inserts were bent and 3 of the 50gr. inserts. I replaced them and any point that was not straight. The fliers went away.

I wondered about this myself. When I make a bad shot and hit something hard I notice sometimes the arrows will get some runout on the tip. I might have to start leaving them for more of stumping arrows.
