Any Hope/Faith potentials for 2014?
Longbows, longbows, longbows....
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Anxious to find out myself.
Hope to have the honor of hunting with another Faith sometime.
As long as everybody is asking/wishing ........... Longbow in high 50s please
This may be unconventional but high character self bows would be very cool. They would have to be made to accommodate long draws though....or at least Faith would. LOL...
Or low to mid 50's for us long arm knuckle draggin neanderthal types.
Chris
Fingers are still crossed......
Shouldn't be long now.
Don't the first hunters get them in August usually?
Mid 40's would be great! It would give some of us low poundage guys a chance to join in the fun!
I'm not sure anyone has stepped up as of yet to provide a Hope and Faith for 2014. If I understood Terry correctly he does not ask for any bowyer to step up and help out. They have always approached him. I admire that concept.
Here's to hope and faith that we'll have a bowyer come forward to provide a Hope and Faith.
Wow! Wasn't aware that bowyers volunteer them up!
That's awesome!
Yes...they are donated by bowyers....and they get a thread designated to them featured at the top for the year. They use to start in June, but somehow the last couple of years the bows came in late and didn't get started till Sept. Wish we had them out now hunting....lots of hogs to be killed....
As far as draw weights....we've mostly done the mid 50's....last year we did the 60 for the 1st time, and the year before they were 47#....so we do change it up....
If something comes along....it will be mid 50s again.
And yes, I don't solicit ....we've always had a bower or two waiting in line, but no one has spoken up.
Your methods are respected Terry. Well respected.
If a bowyer needs help with materials I can assist on a limited level and remove myself from the drawing of potential hunters.
It's an opportunity of wonderful memories.
This is a great program! Can't wait to see what comes up this year.
Bringing this back to the top.
Really hoping someone steps forward this year. What an opportunity for a bowyer to get some great exposure.
I had a lot of fun last year with Hope. Can't wait to see the bows and lucky hunters this year.
Rob
:campfire: I always enjoy seeing the pictures and reading the stories.
ttt
This is a great part of the St. Jude auction launch for 2014

any news???? :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
So these bows are acutioned off? Im still kind of new here but this sounds like a win/win and I'd like to bid when they become available.
Dave,
We're hoping a bowyer steps up this year...alas, it is looking like that will not happen.
I had the pleasure of having Miss Faith for December last year. Awesome bow and awesome experience.
Do a search for Hope and Faith...Over the years, those bows have raised some serious money and garnered some serious mojo.
SO We can buy a month n these bows fromn what I can tell? What about final purchase - is that an option after the years up? Still reading past posts. I looked for the stickie but did not see it
My Wife knows how much I enjoyed hunting with "Hope" a couple years ago. I told her no one has donated a pair yet. My thoughts is because it is a great deal of money and time for a person that makes a living from building bows to give up.She had a the great Idea of two bowyers giving one bow each. I know its easy to say when you don`t build them for a living but a good Idea non the less.
I am not a pro at building bows and the ones I build are usually butt ugly but I will either build a bow for the auction or buy one and donate it. I challenge you guys with a wall full of bows to do the same. You can`t take`m with you.RC
You the man Robert!
That's a great idea RC!
Dave,
Members who are interested in hunting with one of the bows volunteer. The fine staff here at tradgang, make the final decision on where the bows go for the months.
When the St. Jude's auction starts each year, the bows are placed in the auction. Members bid on the bows and the winner receives each of the one they bid on.
Each year's stories are truly a great read.
I'm fortunate in that I have the 2011 Faith bow. It will not be going anywhere.
Just spend a lot of time reading the yearly post - what an awesome idea for such a great cause. I'm glad I stumbled across this/these posts. I'll be waiting for the 2013/2014 announcement and I will throw my hat into the hopeful pool.
Just a thought - Might be kinda cool if some of our collectors had some usable vintage bows they would be willing to donate as Hope and Faith fill-ins. I think it would be neat to have one of the classic Bears, Groves, Wings...etc passed around and hunted with like the two gals have been in the past. Maybe today's Bear, Martin, DAS companies would be willing to donate two bows?? I've never had the pleasure of getting on the Hope and Faith list, but I would still hate to see this event fizzle out.
Those are great ideas RC and Burnsie,Both would be interesting... also it crossed my mind what if we, the Tradgang members each contributed $$$ to cover the cost of building hope and faith, take the financial burden off the bowyer...Then we too are apart of the experience whether we helped build($$), hunted with or bought($$) these fine bows? More ways for more people to be involved...Just a thought....It's all for the KIDS anyway! ;)
I'd be willing to chip in to help a bowyer pay for the required materials, since they are already donating their time, effort, and knowledge, etc.
However, I do not and am sure other folks do not want to be asssessed, since everyone has different financial obligations. But I'd give what I could.
First season hunting with a trad bow. Hope I can fill the back of my truck with back straps!
I just sent an email to Terry about possibly doing the bows this year. Don't lose hope, with a little faith we'll get er' done.....hahaha
I'll keep ya' posted.
I'll do it if you can't Cody.

:shaka:
If I may make a suggestion, to save time, if a bowyer has some stock bows already built then maybe that would help get it going quicker?
I too am willing to pitch in some $ for materials costs.
Together we can do this.
Kepp this up top and updated if possible.
Thanks all.
Would love to see this get going as well, really enjoyed my time with Hope and would like too do it again in sometume sept-dec!
The ball is starting to roll! Thanks guys!
