I've read plenty of reviews using the search function, but I'm sure I missed a few.
So....tell me about your Toelke Super D. I've shot a lot of Dan's bows but never the D. In fact, I've never shot a D bow. I've got the bug, though.
How about some pointers, comments, and pictures? Everything is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I am a one bow man since shooting one. The first time I shot one I broke two of the three arrows Jim Wright had left for me to shoot during my lunch break. All 18-20 yard shots.
If you like small grips, you can not find a more perfect marriage between beauty and function in a D shaped bow. Of course, this is just my extremely biased opinion.

Thank you!
Great bows.
x2 on the grip.
Significant improvement with SBD string...quicker and quieter and shock reduction which was "hardly any" to begin with.
I have been thinking of trying a SBD string, but have no real complaints with the one Dan furnishes the bow with. What strand number do you use?
Dan told me today he sends an 8 strand FF flemish twist.
Bought a beautiful Super D off TG Classifieds last month. My first experience with a D-shaped bow as well.
Love it!! Smooth, QUIET and shoots like crazy! The previous owner sent a spare ****** string with it, and man, does it make a difference in even less noise and apparent speed.
55# @, 66" with Texas Ebony in the riser. That reminds me, I need to get some pics up!! :biglaugh:
TxAg, you cannot go wrong with a Super D!
TxAg you know you are going to do it so you might as well get one ordered :)
Here are some pictures of my Super D. This is the first Toelke bow that I've owned and I can assure you, it won't be the last. It has good cast, a very mild thump in the handle and is the sweetest, smoothest shooting bow. Very accurate and forgiving!

Rcorbitt.....I like those string as well. Have several for my Whips
Twistedlim....yeah, i did, haha
Longbow fanatic.....great looking bow
I had one for a while, smooth and silent, just a fine example of Dan's work!!
anything the Toelke's make is top notch in every way, the Super D is no exception. Ive shot 6 or so of them, they were all the same, well mannered, easy to shoot etc. There are also some subtle things in the grip you cant really see in a photo, but it really feels good in the hand.
Jeff - I had a feeling that you didn't get off the phone with Dan without placing an order.
I love my super D and concur with all that has been said about it in previous posts. Hands down the quietest bow I've ever shot. On top of that, Dan is such a class act to deal with. He has always answered my plethora of questions with un-rushed grace and patient understanding.
Jeff dont know how they shoot yet but mine is being laid up as we speak with yours, can"t wait to shoot it. 66" dark cocobolo riser /boo cores/black beaver tail wrap with black glass that will soon be skinned.

Awesome. I went with a 66" also. 51@29 with cocobolo riser and juniper veneers. Grip is a very deep red elk leather. Oughta be a looker and a shooter
I have an alligator hide grip on mine. Had to "southern it up" a bit.
Cocobolo and the nicest piece of yew that you can imagine

awbowman
That looks like a classic whip.
awbowman that grip is SWEEETTTTT. Can not decide on rattle snake or copper head skins yet for mine.
Nope Michael, Super D, just bad photo angles
Beautiful bow, Fred. Hey, you think you could hook a brutha up with a grip like that!!??!!
Sadly the skin looked better on the Internet than it really was. Dan only got two grips from the whole skin that I bought. I have a small piece for an accent to a sheath that will one day carry a knife with a handle made from the remnants of the riser.
That turned out to be a $100 grip.
Can't put a price on classy  !
Sure can't Bob. It has lasted well also. I just sent a message to a buddy who may have a connection. There may be hope for a grip for you yet.
Going straight to "the king of the swamp", Mr. Troy Landry.

Just thinking out loud here, but red rat snake skin would look good. you'd have the black glass on the belly and the black/reds of the cocobolo riser to complement the skins. (Not the bright red rats but a more subtle shade of red)

add in the bighorn sheep tips ..... now that REALLY adds some class!
Just a little candy for those waiting for USPS to deliver. Juniper limbs and cocobolo riser. Mmmm...

^^^ that looks great. I love that juniper.
I think I read another thread with the specs, but care to refresh my memory?
I received my Super D today....only 17 days from ordering.
I've only shot about 2 dozen arrows through it, but it is everything that everyone said it would be. It feels 3-5 pounds lighter than it is (checked on a scale) and is dead silent...not whisper quiet, bud dead silent.
I shot Dan an email to express my gratitude and will catch up with him next week to ask a few questions.
I'll update with pics tomorrow. Off to a wedding now...
TxAg do yourself a favor and shoot it a month for a good feel and then put an 8 strand SBD string on and notice the "great" go to "perfection". Heck, you should have a spare string anyway.
Use Centaurs wool silencers with the SBD and now she'll ROCK!
Congrats!! Can't wait to see the pics.
Jeff you dirty dog, I though mine would be here first BUT you are one of Dans best customers so you have executive privileges. LOL

I was very pleasantly surpised. I'm bitter that I'm sitting at a wedding right this moment an not shooting, haha!
Jeff - there's something wrong with the appetizers at the wedding....ain't you feelin' pretty rotten about now? Better get outta there....'case it's 'tagious, ya know?
I never liked weddings myself, been through 2 too many of my own LOL. Post up some pics tomorrow when ever you get a chance.
Here's a teaser for anyone up early. I'll get some better pics out in the sunshine tomorrow some time.

That Cocobolo and Juniper really does it. The grip ain't bad either, she is a beauty and I know how she shoots. Congrats Jeff
I have the same Cocobolo
That really turned out sweet! Looking forward to your review once you've had a chance to drive a few arrows through her.
Very nice.
Like the bows gents. Nice looking stick and grip there Freddy, hope to shoot it this fall!
