A couple buddies set up a couple spots for hogs and inspired me to get off my butt this summer! Two of us got to make a hunt this weekend while the third had to work! What do friends do? We go hunt and torture the guy who made it all happen with play by play text messages!! Here is the story of my hunt and I've attached the link to our buddy's video! Sorry Basinboy we gotta rub it in! Hope you guys enjoy! The video is really good!
I dropped Swamper off at his spot and waited for a thumbs up before leaving. He gets to his tree and the thumps up I got told me it was gonna be good. I tried to burn up his Yamaha getting thru the Lillies but it came thru like a charm. 5 miles later, I was at my spot. As soon as I put my feet on dry ground, I was in hog rooting. I knew it was gonna be good!
I settled into my stand and waited for some action. At 6:43 I hear one approaching. Send off a text letting the boys know ones coming in and get ready. The boat approached thru the briars and was within 15yds and was still out if sight. I could hear it popping them artificial acorns and suddenly felt the wind on my neck! "I'm done" I just knew it was about to bolt. As soon as that thought ran out if my mind, I spotted his head. I crouched to get a clear look at him bc he was still under some briars. I found a small gap and knew when he got in this hole I was gonna be ready. He took a few steps and I let her eat! He bolted at contact. I knew the arrow was in the right spot but was unsure of the amount of penetration. I heard him run through the brush, then silence, then heard him one more time. As always I analyzed everything and just couldn't be sure I got enough penetration due to the briars that obstructed my view as he ran off. It's 6:45, I got plenty of time. I decide to wait for another.
As time passed, I began to remember that I was far from any help, unsure of whether it was down, and certainly was nursing a lame wrist. About 7:30 I decided to get down and go look for my hog while I still had good light. I got down and didn't find a luck of blood. I decided to look where I thought I heard him last and 43 yds from my stand, I found my boar!!! Then the work started...

Great Job! Nice video! Glad the VPA's worked good for you. :clapper:
Thanks everyone. It was a weekend to remember not just the hunt. The hogs were just the icing on the cake. A lot of work, anticipation and patience for the right wind went into this hunt. We were suppose to have another buddy tag a long but the wind just wasn't perfect for the other stand that I have so I had to break the bad news to him. That really sucked.
Here are a few photos from the weekend.

Looks like a good time. :archer2:
Thanks for sharing that hunt with us. Congrats on the hogs.
Great stuff!.....3 blades are bad medicine on hogs!!! I can certainly attest to that. 4 blades aint bad either. :D
Outstanding!!! Great hunt Gregg. always enjoy seeing your hunts. Never forget the vid where Mr. Warren shoots the sleeping boar.RC
Nice shooting!
Pretty Cool stuff. Congrats!!
Great video! It really makes me miss my hog hunting days in Florida.
Thanks Guys, It's just a real bummer "Basinboy" was working. He is the lead in this operation. He knows the area and is teaching us how its done. So far its worked pretty darn good.
He had it bad enough reading our texts, as he was driving his tug down the bayou, 3 pigs swam the canal in front of him, just to kick a guy when he was down!
Sweet setup Greg! They were on a string and Swamp did a great job picking his shot and that perfect spot. The Ruger curse is no more for him. :clapper:
Nice job, fellows.
Awesome job!
Congrats again guys! That Basinboy is a great mentor!
Don't let these guys fool y'all, they are natural born killers!
Here's the pic of the lil piggies that swam by my tug at work
