My pal Ken Rohloff made a sweet '50's style recurve at my request. I've been walking around stumping with this bow for the last couple of weeks, and I feel like I'm cheating on a my faithful Hill bows !! But this little recurve is amazing, it needs my attention. It's 54 pounds at 28" and I get a few more with my long draw.
It really likes 31" CE 350's with 225 or so up front.. Makes a finished arrow that weighs over 600 and this bow makes 'em sing.
I went to the edge of the woods to go for a walk. After I had gone 1/4 mile the deer flies and the lack of pig sign got the best of me and I turned around. When I got back to the truck I drove to the edge of a cotton field and got out to go for a stroll.. I was walking down a crowned up dirt road between two cotton fields.
With not much hope of seeing any critters I was flinging a blunt at a weed or stick or whatever else I happened to see. After a bit I saw a jack about 150 yards down the road. Hmm, I quit shooting and kept walking towards him. Just about the time I was going to take a shot he took off but only ran another 30 or 40 yards and stopped.. So I kept walking. I got within what looked like a possible and I aimed, drew the bow, and fired away. I was concentrating on the rabbit and the arrow arched out of my sight and I then saw it dropping towards the unfortunate bunny. I don't know who was more surprised when it pinwheeled his noggin.. I counted 54 long steps to him. Hey, I only report this stuff, lol..

Great shooting, yet again.
That was a great shot. I ate a jack rabbit two years ago while in Texas. I do not think I will ever eat another.

great shooting!!
Been shooting my curve lately too.feel the same way about not using my longbow. Funny huh? Think I'll hunt it this year though.
I love that style of recurve. Great looking bow. Nice shot, too!
Some of those old Jacks are hardheaded. I'm surprised it didn't break the arrow and then lope away. :bigsmyl:
Good shooting my friend.
Mike, they are a bit chewy, aren't they?
Back when I was stationed at Ft Hood, (way WAY back) I had a little MG. I used to drive on the range roads when the artillery range was closed. A jack jumped out in the road in front of me and I had second gear pretty well wound tight before I started gaining on him. I could actually hear his toenails scratching when he made a sharp right to leave the road. Sure glad I didn't hit him. That wouldn't have been a fair match at all - my little MG against that big, tough jack.
Fantastic shot!
Any chance we can get some close-up pics of your new rabbit killer?
The arrow has to go somewhere.
Good shot Pat. It's great when it comes together like that.

Yes Sir. But they are fun to hunt with a bow.
