Title: OK then...how about Kootenai River Archery's western Larch shafts?
Post by: Terry Green on June 10, 2013, 03:12:00 PM
Been shooting these out of my selfbow for about 3 months now....and I'm really liking this larch...getting great flight and seem to be pretty darn durable.

Anyone else tried these?

Terry, I ordered a doz raw shafts 7 months ago or so and I absolutely loved them.
Saturday I put in an order for a doz of his economy shafts.

Jonathon is a pleasure to do business with and the shafts are great.

Not to mention the larch has a beautiful color and grain.

Any idea how they compare to Douglas Fir as far as durability and straightness?

German,
The ones I got from Jason were just as straight as the firs I got ,  (good for this wood rookie so take it for what it is) . And from my experience just as durable. They "MAY" be a touch lighter though.

Glad to see Terry and Brian speaking highly of them.  I've been close to ordering some a few times but never have pulled the trigger.

Snag once asked me if I had any Larch out here for shafts. Maybe, says I, but he was pretty hep on them last year. For the weight, I believe.
I see these shafts advertised in TradBow mag, they sound like worth a try.
