Post by: Sharpend60 on June 08, 2013, 10:42:00 AM
What is a .340 in the wood arra scale?

Interesting question.  I just put a carbon 340 on my wood spine meter.  Got: .225 deflection for about 115# spine rating.

Pretty stiff.

From the wood charts, .340 deflection should be between 76 and 77# spine.

Self bow is right if you are  talking the wood spine chart.  I thought he was asking about the difference between the carbon chart ATSM and the wood chart AMO.

Clarify your question.   But guess you have both answers now.

For me I find you can't compare a carbon spine to a wood spine, carbons recover and react much different then other arrow materials.

A wood shaft that deflects .340 with 2 lb on 26" centers is a 76.5 lb spine.

Thanks guys.
My gold tips a barely stiff enough at my draw. Was considering wood, just looking for a good place to start.
