Hello,
Try to coming back into the fold of the past when I first stated shooting.... I got tired of the having to have the faster, more gagets more and more on the machine arrow thrower. :knothead:
So, here I am... Starting all over learn what I forgot some 30 years ago.... The journey back to trusting my instincts in shooting.
I can see there is lots of good info in all the forums, so I better get cracking...
Later for now
Welcome! :campfire: :archer: :clapper: :archer2:

Welcome . Don't know where you live in Michigan but a great Traditional Archery shop is off from US 131 exit 101 about 1/2 mile or so east on the south side of the road called Black Dog Outfitters . Great guys and very helpful but not at all pushey .
I had about a 25 year hiatus. Glad to be back. And I came back with a vengeance.
Welcome back.
Thanking for the welcome backs...
dad,
Nice timing LOL, Only of you guys could have the event the following weekend. My Daughter gets married June 15th. For my own safety I think I wil have to pass on the Compton Traditional Bowhunter shoot.
Is there any or many "True" Traditional Bowhunters/Bowyers/shops in the Tri City/Saginaw Bay area?
I have been reading the Traditional Bowyers bible vol.1...(Vol 2,3,4 waiting on the shelf) since I have a small wood shop in the basement...
Well Thanks again for the info and welcome backs...
Welcome to the campfire :campfire: Jeff.
It sounds a lot like it's been in your heart all along, just ignored until now.
It's a great way to help uncomplicate portions of your life.
I know I've spent way to much time over thinking stuff when simply following my heart and my God was way more than enough.
Again, welcome brother!
God bless,Mudd
Welcome back :archer2:
Welcome :wavey:
Jeff none that I know of. Jays in Clare. I do believe would be the closest. They have a indoor shooting lane so you could try out. I know they carry Martin, Bear, Pistsley, Northern Mist,Hoyt and some used Bob Lee. I understand the wedding congrads. Flint Bowmen and Land -o-lakes in fenton is by you and they have a lot of guys shooting trad. You can check their web sight. Check the classifieds on this sight. Good luck and best wishes for your new addiction.
Welcome!
Good to have you back. It'll be quite a ride :)
Thank you dad for the club info...
I have made a many trip to Jays over the years... BUT... it was for the machine arrow launchers... and Guns. not for the Traditional side .
When I first started into hunting "MY Dad" used to owned a Sport Shop... Man them were the days... spoiled me rotten.... everything was at cost... :jumper:
As for hunt Clubs there is one near my home town I need to check into... From some of the people I have chatted with then are more in the modern archery. (have to check this out for myself). I was checking to see of there was anything else near by... I know all my searches turned up ZIP_O...
Almost all the shop I know of in the area are catering to modern archery as well...
So,,, It looks like roadtrips or online purchasing
Welcome back Jeff
Oh my, a small woodshop in the basement, Bowyer's Bible series, getting back to natural shooting style, man o man, you are in for one terrific journey. Just keep reading these guys post and flop over to the bowyer's bench. It's like the best present you ever got, all you gotta do is open it!
Welcome :campfire: :clapper:
Welcome. :campfire:
Welcome back from Florida. :bigsmyl:
Is Gene McGlashen still making bows up in Harrison, MI? Stillwaters Archery.
homebru
Good luck and welcome back!!!
Welcome back, Jeff
welcome to the madness!
Welcome from Muskegon, I second or third the emotion that home made bows will be poppin' out of that shop soon.
Welcome. I wish I didn't wait so long to get into the traditional side. If your from MI you need to check out the Compton Traditional rendevous or the trad arch show in Kalamazoo. Both Great.
Doing the same. I know I cannot shoot as far as with the compound, but I am still hoping to become proficient enough for some close-in deer hunting later this fall.
I just enjoy shooting each. I have take several deer with compounds over the years but I am really hoping for a traditional harvest this fall. Come on October!

Jeff,
The best traditional "shoot" in the state
IS the following weekend. It is in Grayling and it is called the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters Jamboree. There are not a ton of vendors there but enough to get anything you need. Two Tracks, Great Northern, and Predator are usually there and Lost Nation Archery will have any arrow, point, or accessory you can think of. Shooting at Compton is pretty crowded and I don't bother taking my bow there anymore because I know I will be in Grayling the next weekend where it is quiet and relaxed and the courses are as good or better. I will see if I can dig up a couple links for you.
Land-O-Lakes Bowmen in Fenton (Exit 77 on US-23) is not all that far from you and is stacked with traditional shooters. They shoot a 3d hunting course all summer Thursday nights and have weekend shoots throughout the summer.
Jay's does have a nice selection of traditional stuff because their manager hunts with a stickbow. Talk to him.
Well it's about time 30 years is a long time to be away from your roots, Oops sorry, I waited 34 years before coming back :biglaugh:
Really, welcome back and enjoy the ride, you'll find a lot of information on the shooters forum.
Welcome from Kentucky!
Jeff,
Here is some information for you about the MTB Jamboree:
MTB Info Page (http://www.michigantraditionalbow.com/jamboree.shtml)
Old Jamboree thread (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=075643)
Thread from last week (http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=090494#000000)
Thank you one and all for the welcome backs...
Steve O, Thank you for the info on the next weekend.... Sad part is I have to return to work that weekend of the jamboree too. :help:
So I left and headed back home... I did stop and Mid-Michee Bowmen club... and picked up and application and talked with the club President.... They were in working on the back stop.... Found out they have several Trad Archer in the club as well...
So the journey continues...
As I re-read this... I just wanted to point out that... This is not the Norm for Jays... I have had great service in the past... Just an off day...
