How, and what do you use to condition your shooting glove?
Particularly interested in treatment of softer (Damascus style gloves) instead of cordovan.
I am hoping to find a conditioner that allows a cleaner release!
Thanks, Skychief.
Wax up your string real good with bees wax and run about 200 arrows through it a day for about 3 or 4 days... that should do her...
What can I do to harden the leather a bit? Mine is developing a bit of a groove. I need a little more protection from string.
The Damascus glove is kinda meant to be a thin glove. I shoot with the damascus because its so thin. I like to feel the string better, it gives me a better release. I dont think hardening the damascus will help your shooting though. I would buy a thicker glove if thats what youre looking for.
Montana pitch blend works great.
I soak mine in a bowl of hot soapy water for about a half an hour. I remove it from the bowl and rinse it thoroughly in hot water. I then lay it out to dry completely. Once dry, I coat it with Louisville Slugger baseball glove oil. It's the only oil I have found that doesn't crust up or allow groove lines to form in the glove. I get it at the local sporting goods store in the baseball glove section. I have tried a whole bunch of oils and powders over the years and this formula works best for me. Don
Do not harden the Damascus glove, defeats the purpose. Get a Cordovan or Big Shot if you need a tougher glove. Try some leather lotion or saddle soap. Anyway, the Damascus is really meant for 55# or less- it will wear very quickly on higher poundage than that.

I'd purchase a different glove that has more padding on the tips. or..... spend more time with a shovel in the garden without gloves and thicken up your calluses.
I'm afraid what you are wanting from your current glove just won't do. I have a Bearpaw glove that you may want to look into though that might be just what you want. It is a soft leather glove with thin nylon fingertips. It has a nice feel and a smooth release.
For those who like the Damascus type glove give the Duraglove a try. 3rivers has them. To condition them I put a little mink oil only on the leather part twice a year.
