Let me explain. I have always considered myself a longbow shooter because thats what I started trad with and I have always been drawn to the silence of the longbow.
My problem is that I have a recurve that I shoot most accurately; and, I can't get myself to commit to the recurve because of the difference in the sound.
I'm in the process of trying a recurve that is as quiet as my longbow, which I did not know was possible; but, it is not as accurate as the recurve that has more sound.
Give up a little accuracy or a little sound? Whatcha say?

I've been where you are.
My recommendation would be to keep shooting the new recurve. Don't judge your ability to shoot after only a handful of shooting sessions.
If I plan on hunting with a bow, I'll put all other bows down and start shooting it only for at least a couple of months.
If you are unable to get the accuracy you are looking for from the new recurve.....I'd go with accuracy over silence. Most recurves can be quietened down quite a bit if you put some effort into it.
I'm one of those guys, though, that believes there are few, if any, recurves out there that are as quiet as my quietest longbows. Just my opinion, based on my limited experience.
Terry is right though. Start with Bowhush and Hushpuppies....they will help tame the noisiest of bows.
Another thing to look into is your arrow tuning. Make sure your arrows aren't slapping your riser on release.
A well tuned setup, Bowhush, and Hushpuppies is the recipe for blood on the ground.
A quiet bow is nice. How much is a little. Would you be just as proficient with practice.
I guess you've worked with the old recurve to quiet it dow?
I've not seen or heard a,recurve as quiet as my longbow.

Terry...gottem! They help alot, I will give you that; but not quite to the level of the longbow.
Threeunder and Macbow...The new recurve is a Toelke Chinook and I'm telling you the truth, I did not think it was possible for a recurve to be this quiet.
Please note that I am not saying the other recurve is loud or noisey; there is just that recurve vibration sound that makes my skin crawl. It sure does sound good to hear arrows slapping though! Thats my delema.
I'm not a recurve guy at all, BUT I had a toelke curlew for a why and it WAS dang near as quite as my American longbows. Scary quiet I just couldnt shoot it to save my life
I would keep the accurate bow, but I can tell you, I shoot both recurve and LB also. I only started with the LB in 2010 and can now shoot either equally well.
Try moving your silencers, 30% from where the string starts to touch the limb on the bottom and 25% from the top. Also use cat whiskers and don't make them longer than 1 1/2 long, let me know how it works out.

SBD string, yarn puffs and yarn wrap the ends. Toelke Chinooks are my go to bows and most folks can't believe how quiet they are with the above combination. It'll put some longbows to shame.
I use TS-1 and 450+ strings on my recurves along with heavy duty Catwhiskers, bows are whisper quiet.
What is your bow weight...true draw length and arrow weight?
Where is your nock point set?
Have you adjusted brace height?
Just some clarification. I've had this bow for a while and the arrows are tuned PERFECTLY! In fact, the best I've done. They are aluminum, which I'm also trying to get away from; but, I can shoot them out at 35-40 yds and they fly into my fletched groups.
I have Bow Hush and Hush Puppies on the string.
A few of you have mentioned to try a different string and I just remembered that I had different strings for this bow. I'll try that tomorrow and keep ya'll posted.

Terry - Bow is 50# at 28" and I draw 30". Arrows are 30.5" Easton 2117xx78 with 3x5" parabolic and 125gr points or broadheads. 545gr total arrow weight. Nock is 3/16" above center and brace is between 7 7/8 and 8 1/16 depending on how much I'm shooting. That's where it is most behaved.
Lots of ingredients to a quiet bow, Terry has touched on many of them. We need a bit more info from you to help .... Even longbows can be noisy one compared to another.
I have a Blacktail recurve that I shoot hands down better than any bow I have ever owned, but to me it was noisy. I once shot next to Lon Scott ( Blackhawk ) at a shoot and he was shooting the exact same bow I was and his was whisper quiet. Turned out a string change was the answer. Every bow can be a bit different.

You might try some of the new Static recurves. Most I have shot are quite a bit quieter than the working recurves . results may vary by limb design.

Put a dacron string on that bow w/ cat whiskers and a felt strip at the string grove on the limb tips.
Decision Made!! I'm sending back the most beautiful and well made bow I have ever owned; and, the most quiet recurve I have ever not heard. I'm keeping ole' reliable with all of her scars, single color riser, and brown limbs because I just shoot her better. I'm into this for hunting and hunting means hitting pretty small targets sometimes. I just gotta go with the "accuracy is final" motto and stick to what works best. I'll buy some SBD strings and put Bow Hush and Hush Puppies on those if i need to.
Guess I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm drawn to the look of longbows and lack of sound; but, I just shoot this recurve best.
Maybe I can find a pretty recurve that I shoot well! So it goes right boys and girls!?
I have the most confidence in the least good looking recurve I own. It isn't as quiet as most of the others (so far) but quiet enough.
Have you tried your nock point at 3/8ths?
If not....try that before you send it away.

Those of you who said to check the string win the prize! I remembered that I took a skinny string off of this bow to put on a longbow. Once set back up to spec with the skinny string, Bow Hush, and Hush Puppies, I'm very comfortable with how quiet she is.
Thanks for everyones input. I was really getting bummed out because I did not remember the bow being problematic with sound.

my titan set up was the same way and I got it almost longbow quiet. put some velco or silencing material on the string track then install 4 bundles of cat whiskers cat around 1 1/4". did the job for me

my dryad epic limbs on my titan riser were extremely quiet, more quiet then my longbows and fast.
How tight are your arrow nocks on the string?
Its probably not as loud as you think. Just different than a longbow. Have someone else shoot it and stand nearby...I bet you'll be surprised.
