Hi guys,
I just acquired a bow from a fellow tradganger here.
It's blackswan riser with his self-made Tonkin boo and glass hybrid limbs. Coming in at 66", 33# at 23" (yes i'm a light shooter).
Since the bow was from the States, I figured i'll require some help with storage issues. You see, Singapore is a blistering 85 Fahrenheit ( 29 celcius) all year round and it's a stark difference compared to the temperatures most Americans are experiencing.
How should I keep my bow? I haven't got a rack yet so currently I'm leaving it flat by my bed. And also, I sleep in an air conditioned room (68 Fahrenheit), will the temperature difference in the room be detrimental to the bow?
I'd love to hear some suggestions on how to store a bow properly, strung or unstrung, taken down or assembled.
And also what type of places will be best for the bow.
Tropical island Singapore is both HOT AND HUMID. So I'll need to make sure the bow is well adapted at the very least.
Really appreciate it if some of you would chip in!
P/S: I'm quite interested to try my hand at making a bow sock to bring the bow along, any idea on this one? :laughing:
85 F is not extreme.
Here in GA it gets up to 90+ for the entire summer.
Keeping it in your A/c home and walking outside and shooting it isn't a problem.
The reason they say don't leave it in vehicles is because the temps can get up over 125-150 degrees and at that point you approach the temps at which the glue that holds the limbs together was cured at.
At that point delamination becomes an issue.
Just don't leave it inside a car strung up, or outside in the sun where it can really get hot and you'll be fine.
What Ray said. 85 is not hot compared to Texas heat.
Never could understand why folks would think a laminated bow would be fragile as a newborn baby.It's a tool. Shoot it, use it hard, wear it out if you can, get a new one if it breaks.
You need to post a picture of the bow. It helps understand the problem.
Wow, so that's what they call the Texan heat! I bet the weather smokes an arrow too.
I'm still a student and getting this bow here isn't cheap for me at all. That's why I'm being all jittery about this bow.

Haven't been able to string the bow for now since I'm far too short to use the push-pull method and I don't have a stringer yet. Gonna make one out of paracord soon.

I LOVE the contrast of the boo to the black bow and glass
Wow very striking bow! The limbs look very well made too. It resembles the very first generation black swan hybrid. I wouldn't worry too much about the humidity or heat on a metal riser bow with glass limbs. Let us know how it shoots.
I live in Texas and abut this time of year I start praying for 85 degree highs. Usually it is more like 95-100+, and will be that way every day for the next several months!
If it is a laminated glass bow, you should be fine.
