I am headed to WI in an hour for a week of family and friends.
I sent a bow out a few months ago and am bringing my reel with me in hopes to get some bowfishing action in.
I know you have had a colder than normal spring. I was wondering how every one is doing so far and what kind of areas you are seeing them, in order to cut scouting time. I only ask because it sounds like I will not have a motor so I would like to minimize rowing and maximize shooting.
I will be fishing Lake Wausau or the Eupleine Flowage, or possible other parts of the Wisconsin river as far south as Stevens Point. I know there is a lot of places to go.
Next Time I check in will be from Wisconsin.
Have a safe trip, My Brother!!!!! :archer:
Charlie,
Yep, it has been a colder than normal spring - everything seems to be at least 2 weeks late. I have been shooting a few carp with the flooded conditions. They are not ready to spawn yet but are staging in creek mouths and moving up to the "get ready" stage. If you are going to be around long enough to get some warmer weather you might find them moving into more prespawn areas. Some of my best areas this early have been culverts that are draining flooded areas - haven't had to get my feet wet yet.
Pete, I am only in WI for one week with the latter part of the week devoted to my brothers wedding.
The culvert approach may be good for me since most of my friends were not able to take time from work to play. I will fish tomorrow afternoon with one friend but then I am on my own all week.
The good news is, I have access to a vehicle and my Dads row boat if needed.
Have fun......missed you at the 3-D today!
I'd say the flooded backwaters of a flowage would be a good bet. I've been seeing them in be flooded areas of the Mississippi in the last week.
Good luck!
-Jay
Unfortunately there is not Much flooding here. Ithink I will try the turbulent waters below a dam tomorrow.
Good news is my brothers are wanting to Join me.
Wish I was able to attend the shoot Ron!
Pretty Windy here today. Its overcast and the forecast is looking like Rain all week. I am doing family stuff this morning and making a go of it this afternoon.
Had a friend at church whose son was on Castle Rock the other night and shot 140 fish with his buddy. No shortage of carp in the wis. river system although it's cool and windy today get back in the bays and you should see some. Don't forget you must haul them from the water and dispose of them.No stick and release. Carp sushi,YUM!
cold and windy here today. 1st outing was a bust, no fish spotted.
Raining today. Less wind. Still no fish seen.
Scrounged up an generator, Light and a boat, hope things improve. even though they forecast rain the next couple days, its supposed to warm up considerably.
