Was at the archery shop near my home this last weekend shooting in the indoor range that has no black fly or mosquitoes , and I took a break to look around the shop .
Found a early 70s Bear Super Kodiak 48 , 40# @ 28 in near perfect condition . I thought it would be perfect for my wife that is 5 foot and has a 23" draw .
I have tried for quite some time to get her a new bow but she just didn't want one , she said " her Bear Cub was just fine . "
Went home and told her I found the perfect bow for her but as usual she wouldn't go . I kept asking her to at least look at it and finally she agreed but said " we weren't going to buy it . "
Got to the shop , had it strung up and I had her arm guard and glove with me as well as her arrows and said " might as well shoot it . "
She shot it for about 10 min. and I said " well lets go home " as I reached for the bow . She had the same look on her face I had when I found my Bear TD and pulled it back behind her and said " Don't touch my bow ." Well I don't have to tell the rest ; did have to make a new Flemish twist string later cause she didn't like the string that came with it . That kinda made my day . :archer:
Simply awesome!!!!!!!!!
Great story! Funny how that happens.
I asked her what she liked about her new bow and she said " My old bow goes thud but this one goes fffiiitt " .
I tried to tell her that the technical term for that is " thwack " but you know how that goes .
She then said " it's my bow I'll call it what I want to , its fffiiitt . "
You guys who have wives that embrace your hobby are truly lucky fellows. I hope she thoroughly enjoys this bow.
How long have you been married? You should know by now not to correct her. haha
I had a similar expierance, I traded a quiver for a 62in 35@28 Tigercat, real nice bow, I brought it home this was the middle of winter no less so in conversation she says when did you get THAT bow, I tell that I got her for you dear so you can start shooting too! The next day I had it strung up and was going to shoot some differant arrow spines thru it I promptly was informed that I was NOT to be messing with her bow, go figure the rest is history we shoot all the time, she loves it! LOL Got her a Bama Expi on order!
I just gave my wife her new 7 Lakes "Lite Night" on Friday. 60" longbow 28@28, we took our first trip to the range and got her setup on new arrows and a little shooting. Her group shrunk by 2/3rds with dropping 10 pounds so it seems a lot less discouraging to her. Crossing fingers that this is more than a passing phase...

Very cool
Good story....
When I read the Heading, I thought you traded the wife for a bow....
