Guys,
I have been shooting longbow for about 2 years now. My buddy suggested that i change from shooting carbon to wood. It has been a major learning curve for me. Alot to it.
Now I am to the stage of dip cresting. Alot to learn on this also. Can you tell me what is compatable with the diferent types of poly, water base, oil base paint. Can water base be coated with oil base and so on. I appriciate any help you can give.
Mike
A good way to go Mike is to dip in Rustoleum for the crown and then use Minwax Polyacrylic for the sealer. Not a lot of odor, dries fast and is easy to find. You can paint the cresting with Testor's enamel. You just don't want to paint crown and crest with an enamel and then use an oil based sealer...you will melt your hard work. If using waterbased paint you can seal a with oil-based sealer.
I use Acrylic paints from Walmart craft dept. Just wipe on, lots of colors, clean up with water and also does a neat job of cresting. Followed with a good coat of Polycrylic, it makes a good looking arrow with out a lot of expense or mess.
Thanks for you help
