This morning my first patient of the day was a man named Fred. Fred is 81 years old and he is a bowhunter!
I said, "Good morning Fred, what have you been doing?" With out a thought he said, "Waiting for September!"
Hmmmm well, me too.

That's great. Thanks for sharing. God bless you and Fred.
That is awesome
Very cool!!
That's great. That's my dream also. To be shooting a bow at that age.
That is awesome! When I am about to go on a trip all my older gents wanna hear all about it. I end up putting my day on hold for a bit and just listening to THEIR stories. I feel sorry for the next patient because they have to wait a few :)
I'll be happy if I can still read and understand this at 81 years of age.....I hope I can!! :biglaugh: Just proof that you have to take car of yourself and stay active.
Please tell your patient a tarheel bowhunter is hoping he sees many more Septembers with bow in hand!!
My 74 year old huntin buddy just chase down a turkey he shot and killed it with his kane (just had his knee replaced). Then called me to clean it cause he was to tired! He is not only old!

When I was a boy (a half-century ago) there was a gentleman in our neighborhood who was 86 years young and still hunting. The last time I saw Mr. Cecil on the dove field he weighted about 80 lbs. soaking wet and every time he'd shoot the shotgun would knock him down. We were about fifty yards away from him on a fence line when he shot and went down for the first time. My dad went running over to help him and Mr. Cecil said, "long as you see me getting up, don't worry 'bout me. When I ain't getting up, then you can come running." That man shot all afternoon and never stopped getting up.
I know this ain't bowhunting, but there's a lesson for all, I think.
That is great!
I think I like Fred!
Hope I'm thinking & feeling the same at that age! :clapper:
