Hey guys,
I have a in-law who wants to start shooting a traditional bow.
What would be a good book or video that I could recommend for him. He is a compound shooter so there is some experience but we all know there's a learning curve involved. If he wasn't six hours away I would get him pointed in the right direction..
Thanks Cory
Hey! I highly recommend the "Instinctive Shooting with G. Fred Asbell" DVD. It runs about $24.99 I believe from 3 rivers archery. Hope this helps!
The best introduction I can think of would be the 4 voulmes of The Masters of the Bare Bow. It illustrates all the different aspects of shooting a traditional bow, including shooting styles, types of bows, how to shoot, how to tune arrows, mental aspects, etc.

The Traditional Bowhunter's Handbook by T.J. Conrads is also a good one.
Instinctive Archery Insights by Jay Kidwell... A book you will be glad you own...

Masters of the Barebow. Volume III is the one I'd pay attention to.
Fred Eichler's DVD Traditional Harvests 6 has an excellent portion at the end that covers bow set-up, arrow tuning, shooting technique, etc.
A lot of good hunting footage, too.
Available at 3 Rivers archery.
