Title: arrow wt "up front"?
Post by: Lost Arra on May 13, 2013, 08:57:00 AM
Regarding point weight:
Should a 100 gr brass insert with a 125gr broadhead provide any advantage or disadvantage regarding arrow flight to a 25gr alloy insert and a 200gr broadhead?

Both have 225gr "up front".

I've been sorting some carbons and I'm trying to not remove inserts.

The lighter insert with the heavier broadhead will increase your FOC just a tad bit because a more of the weight will be closer to the tip of the arrow. More FOC is usually a good thing. The main thing is to make sure the arrow is tuned to you and your bow.

I would bet that there would not be any discernible advantage to either setup.

I am wondering the same thing. I had been shooting the VAPs w a stainless insert @ 92grns with a 200 grain tip. I hav since switched to the penetrator 2 inserts which are 43grns. I assume I can go up to a 250 gr tip and hav same flight? I do wonder if there is any advantage either way?? I am looking forward to reading the responses.

I use the 50gr brass inserts since they are much stronger than the aluminum inserts. I've had the alum inum inserts break on me but never a brass insert.
