I switched from a 12-strand D97 string to SBD 8 strand string. Now my arrows are shooting weak and need stiffened. I am shooting full length GT 5575's out of my longbow and prior to string switch they were spot on. Now the bareshafts are shooting about 10" right of the fletched shafts at 20 yards. How much should I cut off to stiffen them up a bit or should I just try slipping a toothpick behind my strike plate to build the bow up instead?
Depending on the point weight you are using now, I'd try lighter points before cutting.
If you must cut, use one arrow and take off no more than a quarter inch at a time -- carbons can be pretty sensitive to shortening.

GD leave the arrows alone and try shiming out your side plate or use a harder material for side plate such and a thin piece of leather. I put a new SBD string on a bow this week and had the same issue.
