I've been experiencing a lot of spine issues latley. Mainly showing signs of too stiff of a spine... so I thought.
I was shooting 1535s full length with 100 grain and 125 grain and still no improvment.
I started thinking maybe the wind was affecting the arrow a bit (I live on a lake and shoot in my backyard right were the lake's wind blows through.)
Then I bought 175 grain, and it helped the stiff spine issues a little, but when it left the bow it would do all kinds of crazy fish tailing and circles as it left.
Needless to say I was so frusterated...
I took a break, and broke down to square one... My form.
I decicded to use deeper hooks (I shoot split with a glove) and improved on my "J" motion in my draw and went deeper, aligning that "archers paradox".

the 175 grain still shot kind of crapy, but the 100 grains started looking like darts. They still show slight sign of stiff spine. But fly a lot better.
I'm still playing around and experimenting but I feel I've made a little progress. Bare shafting I'm still all over the place for some reason. But I'm focusing more so on me and my shooting then equipment... Just thought I'd share for the new guys starting out. I just started shooting roughly 4 maybe 5 months ago.
What are you shooting the 1535's from ?

Its a 38# @ 28" Thunder child.
I bet you may be weak instead of stiff. I think Big Jim cuts his pretty close to center.
negative Todd, I went in circles a couple weeks ago with people on here. I felt so bad, I too thought I was too weak. But points were left and nock was right consistantly the first time I bare shafted.
I changed my release up, tried focusing on a few things and most of everything cleaned up. But what threw me for a curve, a 3555 with 175 grain, didn't show much sign of stiff spine, granted it was only from 10 yards, but my 1535 100 grain did about the same.
I don't want this post to turn into a spine and point conversation again, last time it was rediculous! lol.
I wouldn't mind your thoughts and help, just PM me though...

Make sure to only do one thing at a time !
Assuming your draw length is 28" or more, they are a little too stiff, you have to have a real good release to use them out of that bow. You could try putting a 50-100 gr brass insert up front that should do it.
What would shoot real good out of that bow is 1816 aluminum arrows, I know because that is what I shoot out of my Hoyt which is 42 @ 28, but I only draw 26 1/2". I also shoot 1535's out of all of my bows but I am lucky to have real good form and release.
It's also very possible that your arrows are too long, but I would try using the brass inserts first.
Also try moving your string knock, you might have too high of a spine and porpoising.
Having bare shafts shooting like a shot gun blast is a good sign your form isn't consistent.....
Anyone struggling with form inconsistencies is going to have a rough time trying to tune arrows to a bow.... Glad to hear you picked up on that part bro.... you'll get her! :thumbsup:
