Especially Mossy Oak Treestand. I would love to have a couple of pairs of pants in it and the original Bottomland (not the new one). Anybody else like these older patterns?
Love the old Bottomland pattern. Still a jacket and overalls in this pattern.
I like the old WWII pattern. I have a repro set of WWII military camo through a living history site.
trebark...the original back in the 80's.
I still prefer the military Eastern Woodland pattern, but I also liked the Mossy Oak Bottomland. Another item I liked was a set of the reverseable WWII camo style that was green pattern on one side but turn it inside out and it was brown pattern.
Yes sir, love the old brown pattern. Really makes you disappear in the fall woods
Sam that made me remember the old brown woodland. I liked it too.
Pete,
I'm about an hour down the road from where Treebark had their HQ. They had an outlet store there and I bought a few things there 20 years or so ago.
I had deer & turkey look right through me back in the early 90's I believe it was- with Mossy Oak Full Foilage.
Today's MO Obsession is very similar. Turkey is where it really matters. For deer, the predator patterns work well.
Love those older patterns picked me up a pair of 6 pocket pants in trebark at savers, the one I liked a lot from the 90s was the original Advantage pattern by realtree it had enough openness to it I be effective, still hard to beat a wool flannel
I am going to switch to plaids and straight wool but still have a few camo things. Not any old patterns but my favorite old pattern is TREE BARK that just looked cool
I always thought that Mossy Oak Full foliage was hands down the best early season camo out, until it was gone.
Some of the older original military pattens were pretty good too.

Original bottomland and treestand was my favotite. Treebark was also great.

love the old stuff. treebark, original bottomland and treestand. and old Spartan realtree
I love the older patterns, many are still better than what's available today. I found this shirt in an Army Navy store in western NY. It blends in great in the Florida woods. [i was happier than i look!!!LOL!!]
The first photo is the same pattern as Bamboo is wearing but at a distance to show the effectiveness. Thank God Bamboo got Scott and I the same pattern to wear, it is very effective.

The next pic is my Kelly Cooper True leaf and Winnona shadow. Great patterns also...

This is a repro of WWII military issue camo. I got it off of a reenacting website a few years ago.

I think that I've had them all at one time or another, Kelly Trueleafe, the first Mossy Oak and Realtree patterns, ASAT, Hide n Pine, Treebark. There are a few that I don't know the names of. I remember in the early/mid 90's there was a snake skin pattern.
I had one that was a cross or knockoff of Realtree and Mossy Oak kinda combined. It worked pretty well. I ended up smothering a fire with it :(
Here's a pattern called 3D leaf. Don't know how long it's been around. I got it in '95 and like it. It's served me well.

Yep, Bob Fratzke's Winona shadow is tops; especially when you consider it was a soft, quiet, acrylic knit.
Tim
Camo Clan was a favorite of mine. Both green and snow camo.
I love the old camo...because it works, and I love garage sales because thats where I find my old camo.
Ive found that the old military pattern works as well as anything, its not fancy or trendy but it works, and thats all im after when it comes to camo. They make other camo other than original bottomland and Treesstand? Oh, I didn't know.. Learn something new everyday
I did break down and buy some new Drake Old School Timber camo last yr. love it
i'm sold for life on ASAT and Predator.
however, i did score a full set of the old early-80's Treebark (shirt and pants) for only 8 bucks for the set! however, fat boy couldn't fit in them, so i gave them to my best hunting buddy. he was pumped.
We use a more sage color here in Nv, but I still have trebark with colored cutout leaves pinned on. I have mil cammo from my collection that also works in open sage. That Marine WWII cammo is still good
I really loved my Tiger Stripe camo from Viet Nam. I finally wore it completely out a few years ago....actually, a couple decades ago! OK! they may have shrunk a little while hanging in the closet, but, it did the trick! :D Horserod
Anyone have a lead on some of that old WWII camo? All I ever find is noisy water-fowling stuff...
Back in the early 80's, during winter, I'd wear a ragwool hat and brown plaid wool jacket. Some snow would stick to it in a mottled pattern and I could all but dissappear. Plus I'd stay warm.
My hunting partner would cut a poncho type hole in a green Army blanket and just sit down in the snow. He looked like a boulder and the deer walked right by him.
I'm a little surprised I only see one mention of it, back in the day it was Ranger Tiger Stripe. A little bleach in the wash and everything but the black got lighter. It was in my opinion one of the best patterns ever developed. It would not surprise me if one of the "newbies" re-created it.
Regards to all,
Dan

Not sure what this camo is called, But it seemed to be the Nam tiger stripe camo turned side ways, Vertically. One of the  best camos I've ever used(the deer seemed to look :archer: past me , as if I were a part of the tree)
Thomas , that looks like it might be Camo Clan from the 70s
I'm definitely a fan of the Viet Nam Tiger Stripe. Horizontal pattern blends in great in the pulp-wood pines that I hunt.
(OK . . I also watched too many episodes of Magnum P.I.) :bigsmyl:
Kingsnake
The best I ever saw back then was mirage it seamed like I became invisible when I wore it I still have one of the two sets just don't fit anymore but cant get rid of it. Widow
I still hunt with my Nam Tiger Stripe Camo pants and a Blouse. Best pattern I have ever used. My second favorite was the Kelly Cooper camo that Joe uses. Fits right in with Beech trees and fallen leaves.
Shot a lot of deer wearing the old WWII,and Trebark patterns. Good stuff.
I love some of the old patterns. When I lived in NY as a kid I always wore the original tre-bark still have some goods. Same with original real tree. Out here in colorado those patterns don't work too well. And LOTS OF CRITTERS have been killed using the old military or basic camo patterns. Don't be fooled by marketing of scent block this and charcoal infused that.
Old woodland pattern we used to use in the Army for me.
I've Used Military BDU's for many years. Dont know how well I blended in but I did see a lot of critters up close and personal.
The biggest problem I had with them was they were cotton, although comfy not warm especially when wet or 20 below.
Old Treestand has to be one of the greatest patterns of all time-- you just disappear in twilight fall woods. I have a few shirts and pants which I plan to make last forever.
I used to have a suit of the tiger stripe, back in the '70's.Definitely one of my favorites.I think it broke up the human form as well or better than any pattern I've used.
(http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a140/jbrandenburg/Scan0007-3.jpg) (http://s10.photobucket.com/user/jbrandenburg/media/Scan0007-3.jpg.html)
For me the old "blotched" camo is and was awesome. The tiger stripe and wooodland pattern's are great too.
Now you all got me thinking of finding some Khaki clothes and use kyrlon spray paint.
I loved the old Trebark pattern.
I love the old woodland camo, but it was hard to find good quality new clothing in this pattern. I have a buddy that was in the military and we were talking about it and he said I could have his fatiques.

I have a couple of old Woolrick wool shirts in the brown WWII camo. You sit in the leaves in the fall and you just vanish......I like the True leaf that Joe Skipp has shown. Never understood why that didn't catch on!
Im also a fan of the old Mossyoak Treestand and Bottomland. In the hemlocks I vanish!
I liked the old original Skyline - Apparition
Burnsie your right! Skyline is a great camo cant forget about them!
Dung out my old Treebark coat and pants the other day, and couldn't get the pants snapped and could barely zip up the coat, weird cause my drivers license lists the same weight in 2013 as it did in 1990???? :dunno:
If I could get the original treebark I'd buy in a heart beat. Best ever for my area.
Realtree extra gray. At the time I thought it was the best looking pattern I ever saw, probably mid '90s. Now looking at all the new stuff, it still may be the best looking pattern I ever saw. Thanks. God bless.
Green apparition was great too. All the good ones went away.

One of the best older style camo patterns is what the Rhodesian military wore back in the bush wars. Google the pattern, very effective.... Then again, so were the RLI.
ak.
Al, looks pretty good. Large blotchy patterns are my favorite!!
Still have my treebark rain suit.
In the early 90's when I was a youngster my dad and uncle both bought jackets with a pattern that I believe was called "Oak Country" I always thought this pattern was sweet, it was like a cross between real-tree hardwoods and the old mossy oak with some beach tree leaves and oak leaves thrown in. I have never seen it on another item of clothing. I wish I could find some, my dad still has that jacket and hunts with it occasionally i'll post a pic if i get a chance.
Original Treebark is one I'd like to see make a come back, it was tops back when I was a kid. Out of camo available today, I like Predator spring green, fall gray & Realtree Max-1
I believe ASAT and Treebark, cover most situations. I however believe that Plaids are superior to anything else! I seldom wear ant kind of Camo! :archer2:
