I got home early today, intent on doing some much needed paperwork. As I settled into my monotony, my phone rang....caller ID told me it was "Ishpeming, MI"....which is code for The Great North, aka the Upper Peninsula.
"Howdy Steve", I answered, because it could only be Steve Turay of Northern Mist calling me from Ishpeming.
"Did you get your bow" he asked.
"No, but awesome...it shipped?" was my response.
"Dang it, it should be there" said the Bowyer of The North.
Just as he said that, the mail truck pulled up. I hung up (abruptly) on Steve, and ran like a kid at Christmas to the road.
"Do you have a long package for me?" I asked the mail lady.
She handed me a long, slim, cardboard box.
I hustled back up to the house, ripped open
the package, to reveal my brand spanking new Baraga, complete with the classic green glass (front and back) with Bubinga riser and tips.
I called back Steve....briefly...and told him "IT'S AWESOME, BUT I CAN'T TALK RIGHT NOW, I HAVE TO SHOOT MY BOW!!!"
I LOVE this bow...62" long, 60#@28". It spits a 625 grain cedar arrow like you have never seen. Super quiet, and I haven't even tuned it or put on silencers. Nothing but a damp, comforting thump in my hand upon release. Thanks Steve!!!
Off to the canal to find some carp.... :bigsmyl:

Not a flaw on it....every glue line perfect...no tool marks, and just as flat/nonreflective as I had asked for.
Perfect!!

Not speaking for Steve in any way, so this is not gospel, but I think he's at about a year. Well worth the wait.
-
Love the green glass.

Roger that's a great looking bow, but I have to be up front with the members of Tradgang buddy. I just received what I thought was an anonymous email until I saw the paw print at the signature location. There was an attachment there and it was an unedited picture. I'm thinking Daisy has ratted you out, but I'll leave that up to the rest of the gang to decide:

By the way, smart dog and nice job with the computer training of her. Tell her she's got a box of treats coming in the mail for her bravery in bringing out the truth. ;)

With that sweet looking (and shooting) bow, Luke can stop calling you "Mr. 3 shot Roger".
Mighty fine selection. I'm looking forward to slinging a few out of her. I'll bring the gas and christen the pontoon..."CarpEnder"
-
Ha! Raymond....she hates it when I kill the rabbits, cause then the fun stops!! :bigsmyl:
Mike...you gotta admit, those were 3 quick shots! I was laying down suppressive fire in case that rabbit was hostile!

This bow is pretty amazing. I have been shooting it for 2 days now, albeit at close range, 10 yards. Whisper quiet with just a bit of beaver fur on the ends.
Brace height seems low, just 6 1/2" to center of the riser, but it is shooting so well, I am hesitant to change it. Going to shoot longer ranges tomorrow, I will get a better look at the arrow in flight before I wind on a permanent nock set. Dang I love this bow.
-
Roger,
Glad you're having fun with that bow. Steve's a great bowyer and heck of a guy to boot. That green glass is pretty cool.
My Howard Hill longbow has about a 6 3/4 brace, so I'm not surprised by where yours is set at.
