I'm on the list for Northern Mist Classic and am thinking about yew limbs. What riser wood would look nice with the yew limbs??
Thanks for the advice,
David
That's a combo I'm seriously considering. I think Ziricote, Macassar Ebony or even a dark figured Cocobolo would be sharp!
I would check with Steve before you get too excited about yew.
I tried to get him to build my whisper with yew that he is building now and he didn't want to use it. Otherwise coco and yew is pretty sharp.. Good luck!
I think cocobolo and yew go together very well.
Cocobolo looks very nice with Yew.
I like Coco bolo alot with Yew!
I think Ziricote and Macasser ebony would be very good as well.
So I echo Joes post above.
I love cocobolo with Yew limbs. Here is my Kempf longbow.

I have to agree coco and maybe a stripe or small flare of Osage with Yew looks awesome!! Don't YEW??? :knothead: :bigsmyl: Shawn
Joe Skipp that's a beauty... That's the kind of cocobolo I was trying to describe.
Yew is one of my favorites. Here is my Mohawk wit Osage and Cocbolo riser. Really like the combo.

Texas ebony looks good
I have a Northern Mist classic with yew limbs and rosewood riser that is absolutely stunning.
Cocco for me also..!
I have cocco on my HalfBreed and Big5. Any dark wood with good grain will look good.
I'm going through the same thing with a Caribow Tuktu EX.
There are several Tuktu shown "in stock" that look sweet, but I'm leaning toward the cocobolo with a wenge or ebony flare riser.
It's the limbs that I'm having trouble with - I like yew with that combo, but he has canary wood that looks similar, or even kingwood for a darker look. :banghead:

The yew has just begun to darken. Can't wait to see it in a couple of years
I had a Chek-Mate with bocote riser and yew limbs, it was very nice looking.
Here's my Bill Stewart Multi Cam...the riser was a light maple, I had it darkened chocolate brown to offset the Yew limbs.

Orange Tint Cocobolo will always look sharp with the yellows & oranges.

2 of my favorite looking Hill style longbows are yew limbed. 1 with a dark ziricote riser and the other had a light colored myrtle. Both were sweet looking.
My favorite with yew is pau ferro, I'll see if I can dig up a pic of one I use to own.

Cocobolo, dark rosewood, or just about any darker woods with good grain lines go well with yew. The two I mentioned above would be my picks though.
Cocobolo with Yew

This is my Liberty Edge; a Bocote riser with Yew core. I've got Coco and Yew in my Liberty Chief and my Contender, also very pretty. You've got a tough decision! I hope we're helping...

Coco does look great with yew. For something slightly different, I really like kingwood with yew too.
