Quick question.
Of the 150 or so sure-enough longbow bowyers in the US, whose do you think is the most "aggressive" or "radical" design. That is, whose "deflexes" and then "reflexes" the most?
Thanks.
Bill
I've liked the Centaur design ever since it was the Selway Lil Mag. Not that much deflex, but strong reflex. Makes for a excellent shooting bow with great performance.
Morrison Shawnee Dakota.
The Cari Bow Perigrine and the Centaur are about as aggressive as it gets. The Liberty Edge is pretty aggressive as well in an R&D.
The Black Creek Siren and the MOAB are both really curvy.
kanati's are pretty aggressive
Dwyer Endeavor?
Big Jim Thunderchild
My PSR, is for me the strongest reflex deflex longbow! :biglaugh:
:archer: BIGFOOT SASQUATCH
Another vote for the Cari-bow Peregrine.
You may want to dig out the "Aggressive hybrid longbow thread" to take a look. Do you want aggressive in strung or unstrung profile? There is a difference. Some bows like the osprey have lots of reflex unbraced but braces to almost straight limbs. While others like Omega retain a lot of that reflex after brace.
Qarbon Nano
Hitman. Kinda look like a slim limbed recurve. Shoot great
Looks like you will have a 150 answers here.
My dad sent me a link to a guy out in the west who I've never heard of before. I couldnt believe what he was making, and then drawing it 30 inches. Wish I remember his name.
me too..lol
The yellowstone express is very agressive.
I would say this one wins though.

Ummmm....yep....that's got more than my MOABs and Thunderchild combined!
If aggressive is defined while braced I think these are some good examples.

I've always liked the reflex deflex of these bows...
Two Rivers Longbows. Leroy Buckley. Something like this will be my next bow. Their osage backed with bamboo.

I would like a once piece with the camo wood riser backed with osage and bamboo, and then copperhead skins to protect the bamboo.
everyone needs to post pics with their suggestions lol. So we can see what your talking about. I'm in the market for an aggressive reflex deflex longbow, but will probably be getting a don dow stik bow, not super aggressive but its still a nce r/d.
dang!
you guys have done great.
i am still very much in the dark. but it is on a higher level.
i will check all of these out.
thanks.
keep them coming if you want.

Personally, I don't think you can beat the MOAB. I know it is all subjective, but the MOAB's give me everything I want in a R/D longbow.
This isn't a very good picture, but does show one of the limbs.

I know it is a recurve but that black swan archery wave is crazy looking.

Bigfoot Sasquatch take-down. Shows the static tips well.
Try stringing a zipper nitro...that is an extreme r/d longbow!
Chromebuck...correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that second pic down is a Dwyer endeavor...
So many bows, so little time.
FerretWYO's bow looks like a winner, but I would like to see a strung pic please.

I don't know how one would go about stringing something like that. probably why its unstrung lol. they built it but couldn't use it
It is a very neat bow. wonder how long it is?
And maybe another one at full draw!

This is one bow that I'd love to get my hands on and put some arrows through.
The Centaur Carbon Elite I bought from you is the most aggressive RD longbow I've personally shot. Almost a year later with it as my main bow I still can't find any faults with it. I REALLY love this bow. It'll chasing turkeys with me starting next week.

Rivers Edge LX 3pc
Hummingbird 3 pc
I'm surprised no one has mentioned an ACS. Not only are the limbs highly reflexed, the riser limb bed angle is much shallower than most other one-piece or 3-piece hybrids making for high pre-loading and performance.
If they get too aggressive, aren't they called "recurves"?
Still great bows, no matter what we call them!
Are vertical stability and forgiveness compromised in designs that shows aggressive reflex when strung?
I say the 21st century bows were highly reflex/deflex bows and when Buddy and Jim making them they were amazing
Agree with Over&Under on the Zipper Nitro.
You think they made a mistake and sent you recurve limbs before you string it up. :D
This particular one was damaged by high humidity in the south and can not be strung.
Sure, I was joking. Very interesting pic though.

And it is in that vicinity that the arguments always begin. I like shooting traditional bows and could care less what someone chooses to call them. The only time it really matters is when competition rules are involved which gives me an excuse to buy a self bow to add to my pile.
Looks like your closing in on the names of ALL the "150 or so bowyers". When you ask for the best, you are going to get a boatload of opinions. There are definitely a couple names that keep popping up though.
Yes, I was kind of hoping I could get by with only buying 2 or 3 of these "assertive" [my attempt at political correctness] bows, but it looks like it will need to be 7 or 8.
I hope my wife will understand...

I agree with the Centaur carbon elite.. I love mine.
Jim should be getting my triple carbon to me in a couple of weeks. I can hardly wait..LOL
